It's not like most of us say he's going to beat Mayweather or that he's the greatest ever or something. Just that he's the best at 140 and will beat the crap out of Garcia.
Absolutely nothing you have no right to call Matthysse over hyped while implying Danny Frikking Garcia who is a B fighter if i ever seen one is all that.

This fight its going to come down to who can take more punishment! Danny is proven on that aspect and although he as been in trouble a few times, he has shown he can recover and win fights after being hurt! Will Lucas be able do accomplish this once he gets tagged by one of those "Lucky punches" Garcia continues to land fight after fight? (that guy should play the lottery).

          he's seen as an "underdog"

most boxing fanboys see themselves as underdogs.

answer : because a fanboy is really cheering for himself.

he's a very good, relatively young fighter. he's worth of some "hype." the excessive hype, or what i call "Fanboyism" extends beyond the ring. it always has.

lol based on what? he has got a good left hook and thats about it. he isnt very fast, he doesnt have very good footspeed, he isnt technically that good. everything about garcia screams average to me.

He is the greatest 140 fighter in the world. He deserves the attention and all the hype. And he impales his opponents.

Lucas is not over-rated. His performances are the ones that are giving him attention and indeed he has power. He does have some boxing skills and a great chin with good conditioning.

Garcia is under-rated, in the Judah fight he couldn't use his jab but that jab will trouble Lucas more than most ppl think here and he is also a very good body puncher.

The problem is the Lucas does punch as he is getting hit so he will always have the chance to get a knockdown or a KO.

This is a 45%/55% fight in favor of Lucas right now

No matter what Lucas does hes overrated.
Forgot you've gotta beat a chinless amateur in Khan & a 90yr old Morales to be elite in todays game.

Knocked out undefeated top 10 ranked Soto who hadn't lost for years and had never been down.

Outboxed, floored and whooped 33yr old Judah.

Destroyed #1 ranked Peterson in brutal fashion inside of 3 rounds.

Battered #1 ranked Alexander, still the only guy to floor him.

Beat top 10 ranked undefeated Ajose who Garcia ran from from pillar to post.

Knocked Mike Dallas spark out in 1 round with a pull counter

This guy is overrated? In the last few years hes up there with a select few in terms of competition and handled them equally as impressively as anybody.

                      Matthysse has earned his hype.

As has Garcia right now, with the Khan win. However Garcia has had a lot more underhwhelming perofmances than Lucas. Theophane, Holt, Morales, Campbell etc. All very poor showings IMO.

But Matthysse has beaten better fighters, he was robbed against Alexander and most feel should have got the nod against Judah, albeit close IMO.

The only reason I think Lucas get's a little bit of hype is his inability to stop Judah. But I think he'd stop him if they fought again, he's learned from that fight.

Let's face it, after what he did to Peterson, he deserves the hype.

The winner of Garica-Matthysse will be the next big hype Desevedly.
