One difference is Rigo got a title fight against a 0 defense title Haymon client after 8 fights, and after 11 got 750k for p4p Donaire. Lara's never made half as much in a much more glam division, nor contested for a full title despite multiple eliminators.

Every title holder has been ducking lara since forever then in a title eliminator gets robbed against williams to fight canelo...

this is not right and im not talking bad about mexican fighters but no matter wich one fights regardless his style his going to have a following that was all there was in california that day, not lara the only people that have fansupport are mexicans ,floyd ayweather,adrien broner because hes a clown, and miguel cotto only in new york ,but its good for mexican fighters they always have support

everybody likes action but not just throwing punches and getting hit all night and thats how alot of this fighters fight is just theyre not athletic enough to fight another way if not they would too

The cubans have compelling stories, and they have been profiled. We have heard about Gamboa's gold medal being sold or Lara's dramatic defection. The issue with those guys being tough sells is not their background, it's their lackluster style. Matthysse is a different animal though, promoting and demographics might have a bit to do with it, but he isn't overly popular even in his native Argentina.

So what... make him popular in the states. Or send him across the pond the get rid of the Brook's, Cote's, and Khan's. This is why the casual thinks boxing is dying or MMA is taking over. I just love how well Anderson Silva and Jose Aldo speak English. They don't sell at all, they're just bottom of the barrel aren't they?

As far as styles, last I checked, Rigo had the "fighter of the year" running away, no exaggeration, running away in the last round of their fight. Lara's style is a ton better than Canelo's and Trout's. An old shot to pieces Morales gets all the air-time in the world. Hey, how bout that barnburner with Charlo Saturday. You can't tell me Lara or Rigo's style of fighting isn't entertaining when goofballs like Carlos Molina keep getting televised bouts. John Ruiz and Chris Byrd couldn't get off TV at one point.

Tell us Cubans don't come out for their fighters to buy tickets. Tell us Lara's been avoided. Tell us he's had bad breaks and robberies against A side fighters. But don't tell us that we the fight fight fans don't want to watch technicians in main events because now you either seem disengenious at best or plain ****** at worst. Last I checked Mexicans weren't the only fight fans on planet earth. Just be honest and say if Canelo fights Lara he'll either lose big or look awful beating the Cuban because that's what happens when you fight technical Cuban fighters. Canelo is becoming Floyd with all these fantasy match-ups. Canelo can beat everyone in the LMW division so he doesn't have to fight anyone.

There's no reason why Canelo shouldn't fight Lara next.
