I disagree. I think fighting under a Pacquiao/Mayweather/Canelo card as a "co-main event" is huge for any fighter that cannot sell out an arena, which neither of them can do outside of fighting each other IN ARGENTINA. In fact, I point to the Mares/PDL fight; I think that was a great move by Mares to fight on a huge PPV as the main undercard, and built his reputation much more than the Staples Center card where he fought Moreno and was the main event. I love Matthysse, but the Peterson fight sold like, what, 4000 seats in Atlantic City? The amount of exposure to the public (non-boxing aficionados) is significant compared to heading your own card (as Matthysse recently did).

8900 is a record for the Home Depot Center, Stub Hub, or whatever its called now but its not 40,000 either. Mares is a young fighter. Matthysse and Maidana are closer to the end of their career than they are the beginning. These guys need to go after the huge purses.

That's cool, that's your opinion, I respect that. My opinion is that Matthysse leaves him in a pool of blood twitching on the canvas, but that's just me. Only way we'll know for sure is if they actually make the fight.

I am a big fan of both fighters and I don't want them to fight each other. It would almost have to be a great fight but that fight might take a little out of both of them. These two friends and countrymen don't need to knock the hell out of each other. There are lots of other great fights out there for both of them without fighting each other. Maidana doesn't need music. He makes music in the ring with his fists.
