Why is showtime so adamant on Maidana/Matthysse?

I know why GBP wants to make the fight. They just watched Sergio and their rival network put 40,000 in a stadium and they want some of that. Who else can Matthysse and Maidana fight that will put 40,000 people in a stadium without making it a PPV? I dont think its a fight that either fighter wants right now because both fighters have options. But at the same time its going to be hard to turn down that kind of scratch. Matthysse has Haymon now so if I were him I would be pushing for every opponent, not named Floyd or Danny Garcia, on Argentine soil. Put 40,000 in the seats every fight and position myself on the A-side of negotiations. Showtime loves Matthysse so I would try and bully them into playing ball.

This would be a very lucrative fight but I'm not too sure they want to do it. Almost every man has a price but I think they would rather not face each other. Lucas has unfinished business at 140 and Maidana is working on a major shot at 147. It would be a great fight though. Maybe it happens in a year or two.

Yeah I noticed the insistence on maidana vs mathysse, but I like that maidana made made no attempt to show interest in that fight. Him and lucas are friends and probably knows lucas wants that fight with danny so he didnt want to differ attention from the fight that needs to be made at 140.

Yeah I want to see it too but why does it need to be made right away? Lucas has business at 140 and maidana has business at 147. Its not like they're old men on the tail end of their careers this fight can still be made someday down the road.

Put them on an undercard? Lucas is 30. Marcos will be 30 later on this year. With their styles they need to be thinking about the future. These guys are main event type fighters. Moving to an undercard would be a step backwards.
