Maidana's hype isn't even remotely close to where it was before the Khan fight.

It obvious why, it would be a barnburner. I'd happily want it after Lucas-Garcia

I think GBP is having significant trouble making the Garcia fight happen and is attempting to create an emergency-exit for Garcia by pointing the fans in another direction.

Although I would love to see Maidana v. Matthysse, I still think its a way to distract fans from the best fight at 140. Before Maidana/Matthysse fight, I'd like to see Matthysse take a "tune-up" type fight at 147 so he can see how well he performs at the weight class and gain some comfort. Furthermore, Maidana has placed himself in a situation where he has a ton of options at 147. Why make him fight a dude who is currently at 140 when there are a ton of options for him (who are also under GBP)?
We've been hearing about this fight ever since Matthysse took out Ajose and became the WBC mandatory, and every time Matthysse has flat out said no, because he wants Garcia. Golden Boy seems to have dropped the idea, everyone should until Matthysse-Garcia is over.

That's true man, think that may have everything to do with Alexander dominating him as well, I do wonder if Maidana could make adjustments in a rematch.

I'm down with that but ONLY if garcia/lucas happens that fight NEEDS to happen and theres no reason why it shouldnt.

He could, and he could do better, but Alexander's a bad matchup for him.

Like I said last night, these guys are more than just friends, they're like brothers. As teenagers they traveled, fought, bled, suffered, and starved together while sharing in a mutual dream to make it to the top of their sport together. Somehow, they both managed to do that and instead of people learning a lesson from that story, people are now demanding they fight one another despite the fact that they both have unfinished business in their own respective divisions.

I'm not entirely against the two ever fighting, but it makes absolutely no sense right now. Even then, that's if they decide that they want to battle one another. Nobody has a right to resent them if they decide that fighting one another just isn't a priority of theirs.

with the turnout Sergio had when he fought it Argentina, maybe GBP feel they can do something just as big in Argentina with these two fighting each other

I prefer Matthysse vs Garcia first personally then if Matthysse wins that and wants to move up, then a fight against Maidana for his first Welterweight fight would be great! But do they want to fight each other that is the question, you can't force guys to fight each other just like you can't force brothers to fight each other. Some guys probably prefer not to fight their fellow countrymen which I totally understand, it is plenty of competition for Maidana and Matthysse if they don't want to fight each other.

I don't really want to see it. Dangerous pressure fighters are a great thing to have in a division as they really sort the men from the boys. I'd much rather see them matched against different styles of fighters than against each other.

Showtime likes brawls too, they can't make money off boring fighters like Cherrypicker who just potshot and run
