Why is showtime so adamant on Maidana/Matthysse?

In the post fight interview out of all the names at 147 that Jim gray could have gave as possible opponents for maidana but instead he asks about a fight with matthysse (who should be fighting garcia). Why is showtime so adamant on shoving this fight down our throats right away? Sidenote: Anyone notice maidana didnt come out to any entrance music? just straight up walked into the ring with no music lmao

    2 reasons

    1. Both maidana and lucas have never been hotter at the same time than right now...

    2. GBP and Showtime probably trying to protect Danny Garcia and pass Lucas onto Maidana which would be a huge fight....

Yeah I want to see it too but why does it need to be made right away? Lucas has business at 140 and maidana has business at 147. Its not like they're old men on the tail end of their careers this fight can still be made someday down the road.

The decision to fight one another is ultimately their own. Personally, I'm happy with each of them doing their own thing in their own division. Regardless of how bitter it makes a bunch of ******s in the boxing world who honestly couldn't give a **** less about their relationship with one another.

It reminds me of when everybody was crying for the Klitschkos to fight each other years back.

They're in different divisions, they have better fights to make, and they don't want to fight each other. People should just drop it already.

I noticed this as well last night and it really bothered me. As of now, they fight in different weight divisions. Matthysse has made it clear he wants to clean out the division and has no interest in moving-up, unless its the best fiscal option. I think GBP is having significant trouble making the Garcia fight happen and is attempting to create an emergency-exit for Garcia by pointing the fans in another direction.

Although I would love to see Maidana v. Matthysse, I still think its a way to distract fans from the best fight at 140. Before Maidana/Matthysse fight, I'd like to see Matthysse take a "tune-up" type fight at 147 so he can see how well he performs at the weight class and gain some comfort. Furthermore, Maidana has placed himself in a situation where he has a ton of options at 147. Why make him fight a dude who is currently at 140 when there are a ton of options for him (who are also under GBP)?

I'd say that's the main reason.
