All that is fine to say... and I probably agree with you... What we can't say is how no other fighter would of proceeded, especially with two rounds to go.

When the excuse is given, he stopped because of the pain... that's quitting.

I like Angulo, this isn't some anti-Angulo rant... and I dont even BLAME him FOR quitting... I couldnt of done it... but that doesnt take away from what happened... which is he quit.

    • People arguing about the definition of quitting, this right here is getting ridiculous, and the context of quitting because it's boxing doesn't change it's definition. It's simply safer to say "Yes he quit, but it was justifiable", but nope, instead we get all these useless pages...

        That's why forums exist.

What does that have to do with my post?

He couldn't see out of one eye, which plenty of other fighters have fought through with WORSE swollen eyes... His other eye was still fine.

It HURT, it was PAINFUL... that is a matter of heart to fight through the pain.

Tearing your ACL and literally not being able physically walk, or your achilles and not being able to run... those are ACTUAL injuries that do not allow you proceed with your sport.

He had a broken orbital bone... it was a matter of pain tolerance... his legs, arms and vision still worked.
Is there an injury to a boxer above the torso that you would consider equal to an achilles or an ACL that would render a fighter unable to compete?

            • Nobody's trolling... if people are going to continue to beat around the bush with their slick word play saying he didn't technically quit, it was just too painful... then that's a form of trolling too.

              Angulo quit.

No matter how much of a warrior he is, no matter how hard he trains, that is in fact what happened... trying to somehow dispute it is ******.

Also my personal life has nothing to do with a topic on a BOXING forum about a professional fighter.

                A broken back.

                Tyson fought through it, though.

I don't need to defend myself of being a couch commentator. This is a BOXING forum where we DISCUSS what HAPPENS in the ring. I don't need to be a fighter, coach or anything else to discuss this... and that includes being able to fight through it myself.

When Abraham had his jaw shattered and FOUGHT THROUGH it instead of turning around because of the pain and quitting... I COULDNT of done that, but he did.

However, I can comment on it.

                  And therefore, he quit.
Not defensive at all, just find this amusing.

OK Reed, he quit and is a quitter.....

                  You win

It's not a matter of me winning anything.

It's just a matter of what IS, and what is NOT.

Nobody likes to admit he quit because in general, Angulo is a warrior and 99 times out of 100 he would never quit. However....

                      yeah.

Regarding quitting-how would Angulo have had a chance for the doctor to look at his injury without hurting his chances to win?

In the achilles/acl example-the player hurt doesn't hurt himself or the team when getting checked. If he's hurt on the field play stops and he is attended to.

In angulo's case he really has only 2 options-take a knee which costs him a KD or turn his back. Even if he takes a knee there is no guarantee the dr looks at him.

                      How can this be rectified?
