Where was the body punching, right hook, or counter left uppercut when Angulo came in?
I'm happy for Lara, all the props in the world but just because people are pointing out his limitations does not mean it's hate.
It is annoying.
It's as if this site is full of women.
If you don't praise a fighter to the high heavens then you "hate" them or you're a "hater".
You seem to wear it well.

Angulo has shown time and time again that he's not capable of those things.
How many lack luster performances does he need to have to confirm this?
No way is stopping Canelo or Trout. Nor would he beat Molina. I'd doubt he'd beat Kirkland either but it's hard to say considering we don't know where he's at currently.
Lara being caught by Angulo has nothing to do with my opinion of him being overrated, my opinion of him being overrated is his clear lack of dimensions, a non existant inside game and the fact, despite winning clearly IMO at the time of the rightful stoppage, he struggled with a fighter who was slow, limited and dead average at his peak and is certainly worse now.
In regards to Lara being elite, or that being possible, not from what I've seen.
Lara's overrated because he fought a versatile fight, one where he was able to dominate rounds by boxing while also obliging Angulo by brawling with him as well. Hilarious.

Female tendencies are high.
For the record, I don't hate Lara at all. I think he's a good fighter and one of the best at 154.
He's just not as good as most people seem to think and certainly not elite.

That is exactly my point. And it's even worse now as he's clearly worse after his comeback.

people need to calm down here..lara beat angulo...angulo,not mayweather, lara was supposed to win last night, some here even had him ko'ing angulo in six...even if lara would have won impressively without getting dropped and pressured and hit a lot to the body it's still angulo he beat, angulo is just a name,he's shot,he's beat up,he's slow,he's basically a human punching bag...calm down people,he didn't beat a top 154 pound fighter...some people go to the extremes, there are some posters in here who I think make good points, you can tell by reading they aren't just saying things because they like certain fighters but give their honest opinions, some even calling others who say the truth haters,i'm not a hater of lara, just stating the obvious,he won and that was expected, but he didn't win easily and it was a win against a very limited figher, the same fighter you all said was over the hill when he was considered for canelo, even cotto is already to me kind of on the down side,he lost to trout, lost to mayweather,i can't imagine what you all will say if he beats cotto,,,maybe go as far as calling him the top pound for pound guy..cotto has stamina issues, cuts and bruises easily,he's not the same he was 6 or 7 years ago

The problem is guys like Canelo, who are pushed to be the face of '54, give you -- yes, you in particular -- the impression that the talent in the division just isn't that good when it is.

Cotto - Faded
Trout - Beat no one but a faded Cotto
Canelo - unproven because of the above
So do tell, what's so good about this division if this is the case for all these fighters?
Lord help me, if Angulo is the second best fighter at 154 then forgive me for saying the talent pool isn't that good.
As for Lara, he wasn't obliging anything. He didn't stand against the ropes shelling up when Angulo's cement feet caught up with him, he had no choice. Hence, why I think he's overrated.
You're also dreaming if you think Angulo stops everyone at 154. I don't think he'd have an easy night with Ishe Smith.

Everyone on NSB knows that Angulo is looking to KO his opponent. He bring tremendous power to the table. Please, show me a fighter that Lara's fought in the past where even when he's covered up and got hit, they physically moved his whole body with the force of their punches. Lara was able to stand in and brawl with a brawler. It's a shame how before Kirkland, Angulo was some beast, all of a sudden after a fight and layoff, dude is shot to pieces.

Gee, I don't know, if I were Lara, and I knew my opponent hit harder than I did... was a weight class or two bigger than me... and specialized on brawling inside -- I guess I'd grind it out in close quarters. That's logical.Last edited by deejd; 06-09-2013, 02:17 PM.
