Ok, lets try this again, "how exactly did you come to the false conclusion that I'm a SRL fan"? You know, your little false claim on topic.

Ok let's say ur not a fan, but u have defended his catch weights in previous threads. Simple question, did his catchweights in title fights bother u? Did they mean he was a fraud?

I'm going to a thread as soon as I finish researching the history of these "in between" divisions, but I'm certain now, based on research, that these titles all started as catchweight fights.

Guys were too big for one weight class, but too small to compete in the higher weight class so they agreed to fight at a certain weight.

Also, it's interesting that these in between titles have all had various weight limits. For instance, Jr. welt used to be 142, now it's 140. Jr. mid was 156 and 152 and various times. Cruiser weight is now 200, but it was 190 when first recognized and 195 for a few years. I can even remember when cruiser weight was called Jr. Heavy weight, but not super light heavy. Remember "light, light weight" for superfeather weight?
Yeah forgot about the cruiser-weight limit changing. Since the original weight class the number has more than doubled. I wonder if it could ever get to a point where catch weights become the norm.

People who ask for same day weigh-ins forget the reason there were day-before weigh-ins in the first place

Low water content = Brain not floating in spinal fluid = Guaranteed brain damage

Well that sounds like that would be the result of fighters trying to fight in a weight division in which they could not properly make the weight. If you can't make the weight in a healthy fashion you shouldn't be trying to campaign at that weight.

Has anyone been doing any research into how many injuries could be caused by fighting someone who outweighs you by more than 10 lbs come fight night?

It seems like there should be more emphasis placed on fighters re-hydrating if they are truly worried about fighter safety.

been reading NSBforums frontpage, heres what i got.

floyds not getting criticized for his upcoming fight at cw. hes getting criticized for what he said in the past about cw.
there are few fans that do criticize the cw in itself, but for the majority.. its what he said in the past and was used as morning mantra by his not so level headed fans.

those that do criticize this cw fight are in general against cw fights, or perhaps canelo fanatics.

Yes. Floyd deserves all the criticism, vitriol and ill will that comes his way for making the statements he did about catch weights. There is no way around it he is a hypocrite for that.

As for the catch weight itself that does not seem as such a big deal to me. Both agreed to it and Canelo seems confident that it won't affect him much so I'm ready to see the fight.

fighters that has a chance to get fame and fortune will grab every opportunity even if it means risking more to an already risky profession. you cant indoctrinate the underlined to people whos job is to hurt each other.

Not an ounce of self reflection, eh? The chess board still in the mail, delivery pending? And you're crying the other side choosing to use the same weapon, after tasting it for years. Well, here we are to remind you this 2x SWW champ is not who he was made out to be. Like for example, a legit champ able to handle the weight in his 5th division. He should give Marquez a call about that.

But if you can't be the GOAT at boxing (despite the noise), you pick a new game. So Floyd is emerging as a strong GOAT candidate in the CW rankings. He should rematch Canelo at a CW, that'll get him there, plus there's the extra buys to get from calling it "Battle of the Undefeateds" yet again.

Very true I think that makes it even more important that not only there be things that protect fighters from themselves but from other fighters as well. If a guy makes the weight limit the day before then re hydrates 15-20lbs if he comes in the ring substantially heavier than his opponent he still going to try and knock the other guys head off regardless of how much he outweighs him by.
