He'll be about 37 years old. That is ancient for a flyweight, especially one that has arguably fought the toughest competition in the sport with Mares and Froch.

Darchinyan is the ****. Takes on ****ing everyone and anyone. Along with Froch and Mares, he's the man leading the charge on what it is to be a true champion and warrior.

    Rigondeaux
    Donaire
    Mares
    Moreno
Yamanaka (the undefeated BW champion KOing everyone)
    De Valle
    Yohnny Perez
    Agbeko
    Arce
    Mijares
    Kirilov
    Pacheco
    Rojas
    etc

    That's crazy.
Good post and yes I understand he is not in his prime but still with all the pros about him it still proves my point!! Vic has been in wars has ring experience former world champ can **** and Rigo fights him with 12 fights!! Rigo fights Donaire in 11 fights hell Rigo has never fought a guy with a losing record!! 5 of his fights are against undefeated fighters so to say this is cherry picking or a soft fight for Rigo is retarted or plain ******!! Give me a guy that has that type of resume right away in his pro career and has clearly beaten the best in his division and is world champ in 12 freaking fights!! Please name....

I never said it was cherry picking at all. I actually think it's a good fight. I hope Vic does well, and gets paid well for it. He's been chosen to lose though.

      As for your question:

Jeff Fenech: won title in 6 months and 7 fights, and beat prime HOFer Zaragoza
Saensak Muangsurin: won title in 3rd fight, beat about 5 or 6 champions in first 10 fights.
Veeraphol Sahaprom: beat champion in 4 fights.
Davey Moore: beat 1 loss (to Leonard) Ayub Kalule, fought Duran, beat Benitez etc
      Kazuta Ioka: unified the division
Muangchai Kittikasem: lost to Carbajal, but also beat Koo Chang and Chitlada
      Leon Spinks: beat Ali
      Sot Chitalada:
Hiroki Ioka etc etc and there are many more.

Lots of guys have done what Rigo has done, often earlier and more in many cases. Beating Donaire was great though. Amazing stuff. I'm not downplaying any of it.

its not a good match up, vic is to slow, but if he can land one big one, he may do better than nonito just knocking down rigo, that's the only chance I can give vic, a puncher's chance...

Darchinyan is no match for Rigondeaux. I would still like to see this fight but I don't think this fight should be a main event fight on HBO.

It sucks that if you beat the best around first, all the haters going to try to **** on you no matter who you fight next people talking about Darchinyan like he is a nobody Rigo has never fought him. People forget Rigo has done what he has done in only 12 PRO FIGHTS he basically has plenty of names to go through to edge in stone his name in the p4p rankings the thing is he is so good he climbed the stairs backwards meaning the highest step first.

              Why you mad tho?

I wonder if theyre still gonna do this in Florida. If GB doesn't bring Matthysse-Garcia to the east coast I'll probably go to this.

Gets me how so many was calling for this fight and giving Darchinyan a hell of a shot now Rigondeaux has soundly beaten Donaire the fight is being perceived as a cherrypick.

Lets not forget it wasn't that long back Darchinyan beat the **** out of Del Valle (a highly rated prospect) & gave Mares probably the toughest damn fight of his life (had him on the deck) & gave Moreno a good go.

Hes always written off. I don't think for one minute he beats Rigondeaux but to go on he isn't a credible opponent is ridiculous. Every fight the guy is written off and hes proven time & time again hes a handful for just about anybody and has destroyed many top level fighters over the years. Hell I'd go as far as saying he is Donaires best win.

I was just about to post something along the same lines. Prior to the Donaire fight half of the posts on here would read:
                  Darchinyan KOs the chinny Cuban

A lot of people were saying Poon would KO Rigo too.

Rigo set the standard too high for himself by beating Donaire. The problem is, there's no one higher than Donaire so he has to feed on lesser opposition but the BEST available.

Who out there is a better opponent than Vic? Maybe Romero but Idk what's going on with that.

TR continues to recycle their fighters. It is a reason Vic got signed a few months ago and it was for the winner of the Rigo/Nonaire fight.

Vic only has a puncher's chance but he is in a higher weight and his punches don't have the same effect. He is akward enough to give problems in some spots
