Trout was a converted southpaw. He had little success against Canelo with his over hand left. Even though Josesito Lopez was smaller than Canelo, his orthodoz style gave Canelo fits. He just couldn't take Canelo's shots because he was the naturally smaller man.

Floyd will be there for 12 rounds, and he won't run. You have to stay right in front of Canelo and make him work because he does tire at times during fights. In boxing, it is very hard to upgrade your stamina only if you have stamina issues. We will find out if Canelo's has any because Floyd will be strong for the full 12.

My dude, I'm not saying Floyd deserves more respect than Canelo. I'm also NOT saying "who has Canelo fought?" The original post I made was in response to someone saying Canelo deserves all this respect, blah blah blah. I said it's funny how people are demanding respect be paid to Canelo for what he's done, yet you have to pull teeth for people to give Mayweather respect for what he's done. I'm not downplaying Canelo, per se, I'm asking why is it so hard for people to give Mayweather the professional respect he undoubtedly deserves?

My second point was answering why Ortiz got the Mayweather fight. At the time, Berto (regardless of who he had fought up until then), was considered my MOST the 3rd or 4th best WW in the world. So Floyd, who attended the fight between he and Ortiz, was basically scouting Berto to see who his probable next opponent was gonna be. Ortiz ended up winning, changed the perception of Berto being 3-4 ranked @ 147, and got the fight with Floyd.

Guerrero beat Aydin and Berto in his campaigns @ 147, and also at the time, there was not many "better" options for Floyd out there. I'm not justifying those victories for Floyd based on them going through Berto. I'm explaining how/why they got the fight with Floyd, Berto was just a common denominator.

Againnnn though, I'm not bashing Canelo. I respect Canelo for what he's done in the ring. He's not the best boxer in the world, of course. But, at 22 years old he's already made a huge name for himself by being ONE of the best. I just was basically pointing out that it's VERY rare you come across somebody who's NOT a Mayweather Fan, that actually is willing to accept him for what he is inside the ring and give him his props. That's all
Again, I understood and agreed with one point (Floyd at this point in time deserves more respect since Canelo is still relatively new - 22) and disagreed with after 1 fight at WW people thinking that Ortiz was ready for Floyd. Then Guerrero fights the same Berto (with no PEDs and inactive) and it was again enough to fight Floyd. People didn't learn from the first time that it was not enough. Why? ... because Berto had no defense and consequently was getting hit easily by Ortiz and Guerrero .... but both Ortiz and Guerrero showed that they can be EASILY hit as well. Ortiz got knocked down twice by Berto and Guerrero got hit with many shots by Berto.

Just like I stated for Guerrero and Ortiz I said about Canelo. They needed more time and fights in their respective division against quality opponents ... that way they can prove to us how good they are and if they are ready.

I said it a while back. If there was a time to retire instead of when the divisions were stacked it's now .... but the reason Floyd is BACK is because it's a lot less risky time ..... it's cherry picking season!

Ortiz got spanked by Maidana, drew with Peterson and got knocked down twice against Berto in his only fight at WW. He beat Berto because Berto can't stop a beach ball!!! Meaning no defense!
Guerrero was relatively new too and now for some reason everyone thought that doing the same formula is going to work this time? Add that Guerrero looks slow at WW.

I never said that Floyd was scared of this version of Canelo. I said, if Floyd will fight Canelo, it will be sooner NOT later. Unless Canelo doesn't improve THEN it wouldn't matter. Remember that Floyd wanted Canelo as green as possible. Canelo said Floyd wanted Canelo 2 years ago! If Canelo fixed his issues and gained more experience by fighting the right fighters, then YES Floyd would avoid him or try to remove his advantage BEFORE the fight starts.

Well, Floyd is now fighting a Canelo that needed more time yet Floyd still wanted to make sure that the odds were on his side so he told Canelo to come down to 152. Why? Go check your old posts about Manny to answer that or check out Floyd's interview on that subject or Ellerbe's interview.

Canelo being Mexican has nothing to do with it, Floyd has faced better fighters in general.

Canelo wanted Floyd earlier than Floyd wanted Canelo. Btw when do you think Canelo would be "ready" for Floyd. I do think he needs more time to be better but, to be Floyd "ready" he'll be retired by then.
