Can someone help me about the Mayweather vs Top Rank Situation?

    Some inquiries....

    1. How does Top Rank refuse a Delahoya fight with Mayweather, because there wasn't enough money to be made on his end?

Mayweather wanted 20 million for Delahoya, and actually made 25 million+ after the fight. That's a few million for Arum.

    2. How was Top Rank able to offer 8 million for a Margarito fight, but only 6/7 million for Cotto and Hatton who were arguably as or more popular at the time?

    3. Did Mayweather buy out of his contract before the Baldomir fight with the Delahoya fight already lined up?

I'm not big on negotiations so if anyone could help me out here it'd be appreciated.

    1) Arum didnt really want to do business with oscar at all. He's a bitter old man who holds grudges.

    2) back In 06 cotto wasn't yet a star although he was more popular than margarito. Arum had no intentions putting cotto in with floyd yet. Cotto wasn't ready yet and that would ruin his plans with cotto, as for hatton I don't remember him being offered less than with margacheato.

    3) no, I believe after that prior to the baldomir fight floyd teamed up with al haymon and they already planned to buy out his contract. After the fight he did just that and pursued oscar.

Arum still owed floyd mills for the gatti fight and wasn't getting the amount he was supposed to have got. So he left him. Just like cotto and oscar. Too bad PAC didnt he would've made just as much as floyd. Maybe more because of his endorsements.

Great info man, thanks. For 1, the DLH Floyd way overperformed any expectations. Usually you take 2 guys, and the total they sell is less then the sum of what each brings. Here it was the opposite, in a major way. With Floyd's PPV track record up to that point, he had no grounds to ask for that much, even though he was vindicated. But no promoter will make that bet in advance.

          1) Arum has disdain towards De La Hoya who was once under his banner, because he left and invested in his own promotional banner who displayed that he wasn't getting the money he was making from Arum.
2)It's because it was bull**** and was used to discredit Mayweather's name, as Mayweather just brought out his contract with Arum so he can make a fight with De La Hoya which exponentially increased Mayweather money.
          3) He did it around the Judah fight I think... So yeah I think he was on his own fighting on HBO which were working as his promoter for the Baldomir fight.

It's a shame how no one understands this piece of history and why it is difficult to make things happen with Arum, he is stubborn and old.

So how is he able to guarantee 8 million for Margarito when Delahoya was twice/three times as popular? The guarantees are giving me problems. Same with Manny, isn't he getting like 25 million + for guys like Clottey?

I don't know, maybe it's weird. But it pales in comparison to this:

GBP offers 3m to TR for Donaire to fight their main man p4p Mares. TR passes, Donaire gets 1.5m, Mares 375, half of what 11 fight Cuban Rigo gets.

WTF do you make of this?

The only thing I would add is Mayweather had a "Limited time" where he could have brought out his contract for $750K after the Judah fight. After that fight he looked at his options with Top rank and what him and his team present to Top rank, the counter offer from top rank wasn't good enough so he decided to exercise his option of a buy out.

Ok so it was after the Judah bout.....Baldomir had to have been by a different promoter then.
