The only fighter I want to see Floyd fight is Pacman. Manny probably would not win , but it would be interesting and entertaining. Manny at least has the speed, power and is willing to take chances.

While I would never, ever bet against Floyd - I think this is going to be a difficult fight for him. Canelo is young, strong, talented, has great boxing instincts and poise, a varied attacking arsenal of punches, and has enough arrogance (some may say mis-placed) to not be intimated by the aura of Mayweather. Canelo is a different calibre of fighter to Guererro, Ortiz, Hatton, who are made to order for Floyd.
The stamina is a huge problem, and not helped by the CW. If Saul can get in the shape of his life (and why shouldn't he, he's 22 and gonna fight one of the best ever fighters ever, when he's past prime), then I really think he's going to cause Floyd a lot of problems. This is not Robert Guerrero we are talking about, people.

Nacho makes some good points, but he just needs to get past the JMM/Pac misconceptions. His guy did not beat Pac except for the KO fight, and no amount of whining will change the facts.

I always thought Canelo had a shot of beating Mayweather. But after seeing the Guerrero I'm picking Mayweather. This might sound crazy but I think Canelo's arrogance will do him in. I think the reason he fights in spurts is because he is so confident he can turn it up when he wants. He did it against Gomez, and to a certain extent against Trout. He's confident in his chin and he's confident in his power. Most people lose against Mayweather in the first few rounds. They get frustrated and pretty much play right into Mayweather's hands. I think Canelo will also get frustrated but his arrogance will keep him in the fight. If he is too patient Mayweather will steal round after round. If he fights with purpose and consistency he could make it a difficult fight for Mayweather. If he hurts Mayweather late in the match, it might sway the judges if Floyd is ahead. If he hurts Mayweather early Floyd will adjust like he always does. Whatever Canelo does, he can't make any mistakes or Mayweather will capitalize each time. In the end, I think Mayweather will win, but Canelo will gain valuable experience from this fight, which will ultimately make him a better fighter.

Almost all of his fight go the same way....close first 2 rounds or so, he starts to pull away in the next 4 or 5, and then he starts to put on a semi-clinic in the final 4 when the other guy has lost a step while he is still as fresh as in round 1. That stamina is always something that you can't compensate for because it takes a long time to build it up and building it up takes hard work.

Alvarez has good handspeed, better than average power, and solid boxing skills. That's dangerous for anybody, even Floyd Mayweather. I'm not convinced Canelo is capable of adjusting when he needs to however. I also have serious doubts about the overall dynamic range his skillset carries. Can he collapse on his opponent and shorten up his punches when he needs to? Can he alter his rhythm if necessary and become a different fighter? Floyd is a completely different animal.

I'm no where near the biggest Floyd fan and what I'm about to say is unbiased:
Anyone saying this is a cherry pick needs to just stop. Is Canelo young? Yes. A bit inexperienced? Yes. But what other fighter would us as boxing fans view as an acceptable opponent for Floyd? I think he kills Alexander and Khan. This is/was the best fight available at the time for Floyd. Stop complaining and hope/enjoy a great fight.

Nacho is right about one thing: to win, Canelo will need to throw lots of combinations. Hitting Floyd clean with a good shot is hard even when his back is to the ropes, so Canelo shouldn't come into the fight expecting to land anywhere near 40-50% of his power shots as he has done in past fights. He also shouldn't expect one punch to change the fight. Canelo has good punching power, but he's not a devastating one-punch knockout artist and Floyd has a good chin. If Canelo wants to get to Floyd, take away his legs and set up a KO, he's going to have to maintain constant pressure from round 1 and throw a lot of punches, especially to Floyd's body.
The question: what evidence is there that Canelo can pull this off? In the Trout fight, Canelo averaged just ~35 total punches per round. As for the jab, he threw less than 20 jabs in 8 of the 12 rounds. Canelo floored Trout in the 7th, but despite his low punch output, he was already visibly winded by the 6th and found himself unable to follow up on the knockdown. Canelo may have won the Trout fight because Trout wasn't able to land many effective punches of his own, but it was hardly a "spectacular" display by an "offensive" fighter by any stretch of the imagination.
If the key to Canelo defeating Mayweather is an aggressive, sustained offense, there's little evidence that Canelo has the style or stamina to give Floyd a run for his money. In fact, a fighter with a history of being able to maintain a high punch output for 12 rounds - Robert Guerrero - had a much better capacity to fight the type of fight needed to beat Mayweather. And we saw what how easily Floyd took away all of Guerrero's weapons and neutralized the bully strategy Guerrero wanted to use.
As for Guerrero, he had a plan but he did not have the natural skills to do it. Sometimes when Guerrero punches you think that its a video clip of him in slow motion but its not! Guerrero also had no answer for Floyd when he had him against the ropes .... that is why you can't judge anyone by seeing them fight once or twice in a division especially against guys that have no defense then expect to do the same against someone with very good defense.
