Comments Thread For: Sulaiman: Canelo Making a Big Mistake Facing Mayweather

World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman in his opinion believes Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is "making a big mistake" in fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather and Alvarez both confirmed the fight would take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on September 14.

Sulaiman told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard the WBC hasn't been advised about the fight but told us - "it would be foolish for Alvarez to fight Mayweather because its too soon for him."

Sulaiman Isn't Getting A Paycheck; So WHat Else Would He Say...Give Up Your Belt???

Sulaiman.... did you offer the same advice to Robert Guerrero? How about Victor Ortiz? Did you tell Shane Mosley he was too old? How about Cotto? Then shut your mouth, you Crook! Less than a week ago, you were putting it on Canelo about giving up one of his belts, over some 'legal horse dung'. Now you're trying to pee in his cereal too, and make these senile comments "it's too soon... it's bad for Canelo to take this fight".... of course it is.... BECAUSE you aren't involved in the promotion, Rube! You're a crook. You and Don King have had your hands in each others pockets for years. You aren't credible, and neither is the WBC. When Canelo KO's Mayweather... you'll be on the first flight out of town, to go rub your ugly mug up alongisde your WBC Champion, and ride those coattails. You should work for the Circus. You're a Phony.

Money wise, this is the best move Canelo will have made in his career, there are no fighters near his weight class who can make him money.

If he loses, he'll lose to the best in the game and no one will hold that against him, I just don't see how this is a "big mistake".

The timing is perfect because Floyd's name is a hot topic right now and so is Canelo's, he better take training seriously.

Damn, I'm first off after it erupts WBC Numero Uno not using reverse psychology. Well it's too late now, the pressure and build up were too great and Manny has been derailed and snubbed. Also, Marquez won the 3rd Pac fight but knows that he could lose another but may do a Pac fight to finish. Pac got careless but his style will lead to that. However the more cautious Pac that beat De La Hoya is virtually unbeatable.

Canelo is still young, if he loses it won't hurt him, he'll have enough time to come back. If he gives good or great showing, that only helps, even if he loses. Just don't get completely sonned in there, which is very possible.

Canelo is only 22 years old. Think about that.

Hes still raw and is no where near his prime. This is like eating a dish thats undercooked.

I don't blame Canelo at all because of a career high payday

But Floyd wanting a catchweight when Canelo is only 22 years old, not prime, not P4P is incomprehensible to people that know about boxing
