The same dilemma: Should Floyd (who walks 150) fight Canelo (who walks 165-172) at 154?
Such a fight would be dangerous for Floyd, because Canelo is young, fast, hard hitting and heavier...
Now, DLH would like to push his protege into the PPV stardom (as he once did with Floyd)...
I think Floyd owes DLH big...
All respect to Oscar but Floyd doesn't owe him anything. Oscar wanted a win over a top p4p champ which Floyd was. Floyd wanted stardom. They both got An opportunity at what they wanted. Oscar really doesn't run the company he's the face. Schaffer pretty much runs Golden Boy. It would be better to wait for Floyd in '14 more experience and Floyd gets older.

Not really..same applies to the heavyweight division it just isn't what it used to be. The fact remains you are living in the past though..we are talking about here and now. The two biggest draws in the game and one wants to fight..sound familiar to you? Circa 2009.This isn't about resumes, this isn't about how many titles you've gotten, this isn't about records.this is about the two most interesting personalities in boxing. This is the one fact you guys seem completely devoid of. If Floyd had never fought at 154 ever..nobody would be asking for this fight. He fought Cotto and Cotto has no problem fighting Canelo so why can't Floyd fight him as well?

I am saying exactly that and if the fight happens I got 3g's on the kid to beat Mayweather. I respect Mayweathers talents but if he thought Cotto hit hard lol..wait til this kid connects.

I just gave him an answer one which I doubt your biased self will read. 172 pounder..What has Cotto weighed in on fight night for all his 154 bouts..I find you guys super hypocritical and it shows you are scared shhhhtless of the outcome of this fight. He shouldn't fight Canelo, give me one good reason why besides that excuse. If the two men can make weight at the weigh in there is no reason not to fight plain and simple. That's what separates Boxing fans from fanboys for one guy. If Martinez can make 154 why shouldn't he get a shot too..hell Martinez weighs less than Cotto on fight night bro. I'm a Cotto fan so I know what the hell i'm talking about.

That's all you guys are hiding behind..it's sad. How much did Cotto weigh on fight night for Trout and Mayweather..but it's ok to fight him because he's over the hill and slow as hell. The hypocrisy is laughable..scared as hell to finally not have a sure fight is all i'm sensing. Much easier to fight a beatable Alexander whose struggled with B level fighters or Khan who does the harlem shake four fights in a row. If Floyd had never stepped to 154 to fight Cotto for an easy win and belt nobody would care but I find it funny none of ya'll had an issue with that fight.
You clearly can't read. At what point did I ever say I didn't want this fight to happen? They're both champs at 154, why wouldn't they fight a 154? That's where it should happen and that's where I want it to happen. Floyd never said that it could not happen at that weight so relax kid. If you're willing to put 3 stacks on a child that has never faced an elite fighter then you go right ahead, just don't come back the next day when you're out 3 g's talking about how boring Floyd is and how you knew he was gonna win because it was a cherry pick. Hitting hard won't beat Floyd, he's showed you that several times.

O course Floyd was already a star by 2007 -- but never sold PPV until then...

The bare facts show that in May 2007, the super-welterweight boxing match between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. on HBO PPV became the biggest-selling non-heavyweight title fight, with a little more than 2.5 million buyers. The fight itself generated roughly $134.4 million dollars in domestic PPV revenue, making it the most lucrative prizefight of all time.
Since then there was no fight selling anything near 2.5 million PPV buyers.

Look, they BOTH hold belts at 154. If for any reason Floyd is uncomfortable with fighting someone at 154 then he can relinquish his belt. No need to make Canelo go up or down just to protect your hero Floyd.
Floyd is a champion at WW and I believe was forced to give up his belt because he couldn't hold two different belts in two different weight classes! And you say 160-168 as if he doesn't weigh more than that on fight night or did you forget?

It was ok for him to fight Lopez at 154 who he usually fights at 140 but he can't fight cats that will weigh the same as him on fight night? Literally he will weigh around 172 and GGG would weigh about the same! So how is that not fair! Even if GGG or Ward weighed 178 or 175 on fight night they will have around a 3-6 weight advantage... Not much at all! So how come it is cool for Canelo to have a HUGE weight advantage but when people start saying fight cats that will weigh the same as you on fight night is bad??

We know why he won't fight them though! Because skill set he is cool, his man advantage is size! Once he starts fighting elite cats his size, Chocolate, GGG, especially Ward he gets knocked out period.

Mosley the cheater?? Hugged?? How in the hell do you knock a dude through the ring by hugging him?? You sound real ******. He beat the dog shyt out of Margarito knocked his block off!

He was nervous cause he got caught cheating... And proceeded to get his ass whooped his last remaining fights with Cotto retiring him like it should be. Now these are facts for your ass.

Floyd wasn't stripped, look it up. He's still the WBA 154 Super champ, rated #1 contender everywhere.

He didn't beat top guys in his class: Lara, Kirkland, Molina, etc... He does not get outweighed on fight night! He stays calling out smaller fighters have you ever heard him mention GGG?? Hell no! Have you heard him mention Ward?? Hell no!

Cotto is a future hall of famer, and your forgetting the two times Floyd fought at 154 he called out: De La Hoya, and he called out Cotto! Once you call a fighter out you meet them at their comfortable weight.

Marquez wanted Pac ever since 2008 what did he have to do? Fight Pac at ww? Bradley wanted Pac what did he have to do? Fight Pac at WW? Rios wants Pac what does he have to do?? Same with Dawson calling out Ward, what did Dawson have to do??

Floyd is champion at 147 where his last fight was against Robert! Canelo keeps calling out Floyd, if he wants to fight him so bad go to his weight! If not fight cats who will weigh the same as you on fight night.

Ward, GGG, Kid Chocolate etc... will weigh around 5 to 6 pounds more than Canelo on fight night! And GGG might actually weigh the same! He wants to fight P4P greats right?

Ward is #2 on that list, why isn't he calling out Ward?? He would get his ass whooped thoroughly I repeat THOROUGHLY! And he has not beat great competition period.
