None of these are Cherry picks really.

Calzaghe was #1 or #2 at 168 at the time. While Lacy was a favorite Joe was still at the top.

Bute vs Froch was considered Butes first real challenge and a 50/50 fight.

Oscar picking on 135 pound Pacquiao is a better example.
