the thing people gotta remember is......the g-man and watson tragedies when they fought benn and eubank still hang over british boxing. it was a desperately sad period, and in a way, pretty much ended boxing as a mainstream sport here. that is why we dont really like to hear this sort of talk.

this is the hurt business but that went too far, and actually quite disingenuous, especially considering froch likes kessler too (agree with people who have said it sounds like a haye thing to say)

thing is - if froch beat kessler, and mikkel was left brain damaged/dead, i can guarantee froch would regret it for the rest of his life. go see the effect the tragedies had on benn and eubank.

It potentially is a duel to the death. This is the kind of mentality fighters should have when they get in the ring, they're inflicting bodily harm on each other, if one of them doesn't have that determination and shows hesitation for just a brief moment he can get badly hurt. Even soft spoken fighters like Donaire talk about it in some interviews, this is nothing out of the ordinary.

      ------------

You can have the mentality of he'll have to kill me to beat me, that's a warrior attitude I agree, but you don't say something like - 'I'm going to kill him'.

There's no need for it and your bringing a world of a **** for yourself saying something like that if something happens to your opponent.

Look at Pacqiuao - pure class act outside the ring, but you know that he's going to fight like a man demented inside it, he doesn't have to say anything about killing his opponent.

Boxing needs characters to I agree and trash talk is fine within reason but saying - you're going to kill someone is overstepping the mark.

      It's not the streets, it's a sport.

"who is usually a well-behaved and measured young man."

Well, he usually gets stripped down to the waste and smashes people's faces in for money in a display of violent barely concealed ****-****** masculinity. And us perverts pay him to do it, as long as we can watch!

Hush though. Don't let the outsiders know. It might tarnish the image of the sport if the cat gets out of the bag.

              Ridiculous.

Kessler said he wanted to kill Froch too.

Yeah this is a joke. Every time someone farts too loudly the BBOC opens up an investigation.

However, they don't even blink an eye when their is an awful robbery like when Terry Fat**** O'Conner, as the referee and sole judge, gave the first McDermott fight to Tyson Fury even though he was clearly beaten and there was a publicly known grudge between O'Conner and McDermott's father.

                  Exactly.

I think the biggest problem in boxing is there are way too many people in positions of power, be it governing bodies, medical boards, promotions or television that have never been in a boxing ring.

In most major US sports the guys at the highest levels of administration and discipline are ell ex-players and most of them young enough that they haven't grown out of touch with the times.

I wonder how many people on the BBoC board have actually laced up the gloves and been punched in the face?

I'm not even talking about pro fights, or amateur fights for that matter. Hell even lacing up the gloves and doing some friendly sparring at a local gym would probably give most people a much better perspective on the sport and the kind of mentality one must maintain to be a successful prizefighter.

Well I only know of one board member Robert Smith quoted in the article below (regularly gives interviews and appears on Ringside etc) and he's an ex boxer.

this is a contact sport afterall, what do you expect them to do, play footsie in the middle ofthe ring?

froch is very emotionally invloved in this fight, and he described just how bad he wanted to win. there's nothing wrong with what he said, and he shouldn't be made out to look like a moron by apologizing for it. what a sad sack of cunts the british boxing council are...
