Consistent with his paper champ status in his 6th division. Still, this former JLW stepped in the ring with Hopkins at 158. Would Floyd do that in a million years? The WBA Super JMW champ won't even step in the ring with Canelo above 147

Canelo needs Floyd more than Floyd needs Canelo. Without Floyd, Canelo will have to build his way to superstardom the hard way: Fighting top 154 fighters night in and night out, with a fraction of the pay or exposure he can get form Mayweather. Can he still become a superstar this way? Absolutely. But that requires he take dangerous fights, like Trout, on a regular basis for years, and even after several years time he will be lucky to make what he could against Mayweather. And be lucky to get the level of cross over stardom he can against Mayweather.
From a business standpoint, Canelo has much more to lose here. And I'm honestly not sure why everyone is in such an uproar about this. I think Floyd will fight Canelo at 154. After he beats the breaks off the kid you will all go back to discrediting the win against somebody who was never that good to begin with.
And all of this, for the record, I am a fan of Canelo. I think avoiding Floyd is best for him if he wants to be the next ODLH.
Oscar de la Holla did not avoid any boxer...wether was considered P4P or a great one. why sould Canelo want to avoid Floyd, if he wanted to be the next ODLH?

Floyd is largely a paper champion at 154. Has Mayweather Jr even come out and said he won't fight Canelo above 147? I don't care what his dad is saying.

Its crazy, sometimes I wonder about these idiots. Not a lot of thought goes into it, just raw fanboyism.

I want Floyd to fight Nelo at 154 but Team Nelo is doing themselves no favors by being in the public making demands! You're chasing Floyd, dumba$$...the more you talk like this the more you have to deal with Floyds ego...just STFU and maybe you'll get your fight. Bottom line is rather its hate or love, Floyd is the man...

He's not demanding anything from any fighter, flomo, he's just saying he's the 154 champ so that's where he's gonna fight. Nothing wrong with that.

Alvarez is a 154-pound belt-holder who has only fought one 154-pounder in the three years he has held the belt. He is not in a position to make demands of Floyd Mayweather. However, I believe Mayweather will fight him at 154 in September. After Mayweather beats him and makes him look foolish in the process, Alvarez can return to beating up on faded champions and 140-147 pound journeymen.

The BIG difference in the two are Cotto is a blown up 140 lbs. fighter, where Canelo is clearly a middleweight at the very least who weight drains drastically to make 154.. huge difference

But that's not what Floyd told us, he said beating Cotto makes him #1 at 154. If he knew he was too small for the weight class, why is he still holding on to the belt?
