Comments Thread For: Team Canelo: All Opponents Must Face Us at 154

Floy has a belt at 154 and just fought there two fights ago.
Canelo has been fighting at 154 for over 3 years ago.
If Floyd will only fight Canelo at 147 he is clearly avoiding him.
No question about it.
Floyd would box canelos ears off even at 154.
However Canelo is a big puncher and at this stage and age recovery only gets rougher each fight.
Floyd should relinquish his 154 belt.
There is no one else credible for Floyd to fight that is ppv worthy
and showtime is freaking out because they did around 800,000 ppv
buys with the ghost and there was a lot of negative feedback be aide Floyd
to move more than engage.
Floyd did not sell 1 million ppv buys with the ghost.
Don't believe all the propaganda.
Besides PAC and Canelo there is no one out there ppv worthy
for Floyd at this time.

De La Hoya fought at 130 and challenged Hopkins for the middleweight title. Floyd fought at 130 and challenged ex featherweight champion Guerrero. If Floyd won't challenge Canelo at 154, he may as well keep fighting featherweights because I won't watch him.

I don't have a problem with Floyd asking for 147. Yes, I know he has fought twice at 154 before, but that was because Floyd called out those fighters so he had to concede something. He gave up all concessions to fight Oscar. Even in Cotto fight, its well documentes that Manny was trying to negotiate a rematch with Cotto at a catchweight and was considering resigning with Top Rank. Floyd had to dangle a carrot in front of Cotto to give him a reason to take the fight. I'm not sure why many of you don't see that.
But at the end of the day, I think Floyd will eventually fight him at 154.
I just think its funny that people want Floyd to go against boxing history that always shows the A side in charge, and want him to give in to Canelo who has tried to bully him over the last few months

It's a win/win for Canelo because he automatically becomes the 2nd biggest fighter in the sport if Manny is still fighting. If Manny retires, too. There won't be anyone bigger than Canelo.
Canelo needs Floyd more than Floyd needs Canelo. Without Floyd, Canelo will have to build his way to superstardom the hard way: Fighting top 154 fighters night in and night out, with a fraction of the pay or exposure he can get form Mayweather. Can he still become a superstar this way? Absolutely. But that requires he take dangerous fights, like Trout, on a regular basis for years, and even after several years time he will be lucky to make what he could against Mayweather. And be lucky to get the level of cross over stardom he can against Mayweather.
From a business standpoint, Canelo has much more to lose here. And I'm honestly not sure why everyone is in such an uproar about this. I think Floyd will fight Canelo at 154. After he beats the breaks off the kid you will all go back to discrediting the win against somebody who was never that good to begin with.
And all of this, for the record, I am a fan of Canelo. I think avoiding Floyd is best for him if he wants to be the next ODLH.

Ok. Mayweather fought at 154lbs and won a title, right? So it makes him a lightmiddle himself and facing lightmiddles is totally fair, right? Well all those using this logic must and from now on give Mayweather full credit for taking Hatton's 0. No more "it wasn't Hatton's weight". He won a belt and had been a champ at 147lbs so the fight was completely fair?
Also, we should calling out on Jones Jr for not manning up and facing Lennox Lewis. I mean, he WAS a heavyweight champ afterall.
Also, when you put a cat in the oven that totally makes it a biscuit!

Floyd has gone up at 154 only when it was worth it for him to do "career-wise".
Canelo isnt the top dog yet.
He wants to call guys out, get the biggest fights, he will have to concede certain things to these guys. Whether it be weight or money or whatever.
Both Manny and Floyd had to go through the same path coming up.
Otherwise he can keep getting groomed and fight his mandatories.
