Well, he needs someone. Remember, Floyd is like a blockbuster movie that the studios shelled out 100's of millions of dollars on for production, promotion etc,.

They expect returns on their investment or there won't be a sequel. Floyd knows this too. This is why he always has a gimme fight in between a big fight. Shane Mosley (big fight), then he fight Victor Ortiz (not a big fight, Ortiz has accomplished nothing besides winning his first belt), then he goes back to Miguel Cotto (big fight), then back to Guerrero.

He can't do with another Ortiz/Guerrero type opponent. His history dictates that it's time for a big dance partner again, or people will realize what he doing and rebel with their pockets.

Maybe the most marketable of the JWW could get him 1.2m in the best of circumstances, Garcia or Khan with a couple of real legit wins, maaaybe. But not with the bad word of mouth and buyer fatigue from the Guerrero ppv, and these guys looking like 0 threat in their previous fight.

I don't think Floyd needs to fight Canelo at all and I'll bet he never does fight him. He has five more fights and then he retires anyway. There are easily five good opponents out there that fight at 140 to 147. He made money fighting Guerrero so that should tell you he does not need that good of opponent to make money with. Canelo would love to fight Floyd because a win over Floyd would make him a huge star. He should not agree to fight Mayweather at even one ounce below 154. Floyd is the WBA 154 pound superchamp and he should defend his title against Canelo, the WBA 154 pound regular champ. Canelo is already a big star and if he keeps on winning he will soon be a huge star without help from Mayweather. If he KOs Cotto, when Mayweather could not KO Cotto, that will really make him a superstar.

If that's what you want to believe then more power too you. But if Floyd doesn't fight Canelo he still is going to be the cash cow. If Canelo fights and beats Floyd he becomes the cash cow. It's the easiest way for Canelo to make his name mainstream is to beat Mayweather or Pacquiao.

The way i see it is Canelo doesn't need FLoyd as much as Floyd needs him.

Yes, Floyd is still going to get paid$$$ regardless of who he fights. But Showtime is going to want to maximize ppv buys and so will the ppv providers.

Floyd is running out of options of fights that can bring 1.5 mil and up.

Ortiz rematch, khan, Garcia etc will all do close to a 1 mil buys but none will come close to making as much money as a canelo fight would.

If im canelo, i have no pressure on me to agree to all of Floyd's demands like a catchweight.
If im canelo and his management i would wait floyd out and let him fight other guys that dont bring the money canelo can.

Lol u guys hypthesize too much. Floyd is gonna get his numbers. There will always be a guy. Right now its canelo, later on it'll be someone else. U may not like it but the guy pulls numbers and no1 rite now comes close. U guys like to talk about canelo being a star. But odlh he is not.
