really ...coz i can name fighters that have said floyd is a duck or scared, larry holmes and ray leonard come to mind and there's many more who have said the same thing..trainers like macka foley ,joe goosen , martin castillo's trainer have all said the same thing too ...i think most admire his skills but they believe he does'nt take the real threats which is the truth...
Why Is Floyd Appreciated More.......

I think the reason boxers like him more is they've probably been around the sport longer. I started watching boxing around the Oscar fight and hated him, yet I become a bigger fan every time he fights. I'm sure I'll rewatch some of his fights in 10 years and pick up on new things I didn't notice in the moment.Comment

The boxing stake holders ( Trainers, fighters etc ) are more appreciative because they can empathize. same as Floyd they earn from boxing. They have no option but to justify what Floyd is doing. ( * Not their or Floyd's faults )
Fans are the consumers of boxing events so obviously they can see schemes and all. They want what they want and obviously they are a victim because even if they know they wont see what they want to see, they still go and hope Floyd gets beatenComment

I hate Ray Leonard as much as a mentally healthy human being can without being creepy, but I wouldn't say he ducked Hagler. He was a piece of **** to him when he made it seem like he was going to fight Hagler and instead retired, but the man had an eye injury that kept him away for years.Comment

Here is my opinion: Floyd comes out of boxing's post modern phase. Boxing and Football particularly have certain institutions which reek of the Slave/Master relationship. Football drafts are in many ways like a glorified slave market.....This one runs faster he will get bid up for sure, etc etc. And Boxing? For most of history a boxer has needed a manager and during King's era the promoters became the owners of a fighter in a way where before one might have considered the promoter, manager etc as partners. King and Arum in particular have a history of using a contract to basically determine the future of a particular fighter....Talented fighters like T Witherspoon who crossed King ultimately paid a heavy price during their careers.
When Oscar De La Hoya broke from Arum suddenly a former fighter became a part of the real business....Now folks I am not talking about the real staff of a promoter of manager...but the "face" of this company. Bernard Hopkins and Oscar De La Hoya became members of a minority who had real business interests in boxing that challenged the old way of doing business.....
Enter Floyd Mayweather....The mistake that 50 cents first did was thinking Floyd wanted to challenge the standard way of doing business....Create a syndicate and promote fighters that way.
Floyd is in essence the first fighter to actively and unabashadely manage his own career through and through. Yes he partners with Golden Boy but Floyd has his own management and it is based on his decisions.....No slave owner at the top of the pyrmid, no ex pug promoter....No record company corruptor (fifty cents) at the top of the prymid is Floyd and the IRS....PERIOD!
Still wonder why fighters love this man? Still think Bronner is an idiot to worship him? (said tongue in cheek) Floyd has broken the boundaries open. When Floyd turned down the Pac fight and stuck it to Arum he did something most fighters could not, in the past have been able to afford to do. In the past Arum or King could determine that you would not fight again pretty much! But Floyd has thrived....Fighters see this and naturally aspire to be free as human beings, free to practice their craft and make a living without all the sycophants like King Arum and even Golden Boy around. Make sense?Comment
