Unless we're talking low-level trainers who haven't even hit the big time yet and are off the radar in Boxing circles. Someone like Freddie Roach can probably get a free ppv if he really wanted, or free tickets to a HBO Championship Boxing Event, even if he can afford the money.
I have no statistics to back this up, just an observation. Someone like Jermain Taylor has admitted that he is not even interested in Boxing, and besides fighting himself, doesn't even pay attention to big fights. < NOW, he may too be an exception to the rule.
Maybe most Boxers/Trainers are big time fans. Maybe James Toney can't wait till Mayweather vs (insert opponent's name here) happens, so he can shell out 70 bucks and be glued to his TV all night long like an avearage fan. I don't know. Or maybe he is looking to get paid himself and doesn't really give a *** since he is part of the profession.Comment

Is this serious? Well then your "dad" is the exception to the rule.

So if you go off on long post about some meaningless **** to what I was talking to you about, I can respond easily with one line.
If I can get my point across in a few words, why waste them~
You are comparing pre-Oscar Floyd statements who was a star but not some transcendent figure in the sport, to current Floyd who is huge and can carry shows by himself. That is not an apples to apples comparison, to which you responded so what before~ is that a legit way to debate~
Don't be a hypocrite ~
I suppose it's fair enough of an explanation that he can now fight nobodies in terms of drawing power and generate just as much revenue by himself. Which goes right along in explaining the TS's question about why "fans" hate him and fighters/trainers don't.
Which is what all of this was about anyway, from the get-go.Comment

Of all the intellectually dishonest shit you have ever uttered that takes the cake~
Oscar was not doing **** with Top Rank during that period.
In the end who was right about Floyd's actual worth in the Hatton and Oscar fights which both got mentioned by Arum because Floyd surpassed the number Arum gave as unreasonable.
So your definition of right seems wrong~
floyd asked for a 20 million guarantee to fight hoya when he was with top rank. floyd accepted a 10 million guarantee when he actually fought hoya. a reasonable person would say floyd was not serious when he asked for 20 million, but i want to know what an unreasonable person would say...this is where you come in. go!Last edited by daggum; 05-11-2013, 07:14 PM.Comment

Mayweather is a boxer's boxer. It is not hard to understand that the most casual of boxing fans don't appreciate his skills.
Even though he is one of the biggest earners in sport he is still not recognised by the majority of the public.Comment

The media and all of them get comped tickets to his fights, they aren't part of the public that pays $70 to watch potshots and clinching all night. I'm fairly sure they want to keep it that way. Floyd blocks out anyone from the media or anyone involved in reporting boxing, just like he did to Radio Raheem. They risk getting their credentials revoked if they say anyone remotely negative about him.Comment

Didn't Mayweather admit that he won't put money into Pacquiao's (and indirectly Bob Arum's) pocket by watching one of his fights. Now most trainers are just Gym **** and not as enthusiastic as your average fan who pays for the privilege. Freedie Roach is busier training fighters all day at his gym and studying tapes of past fights in preparation for his Boxer's next fight, to be enjoying a full-PPV card, kicking back and eating chicken wings, and be paying for it. I may be wrong. You can contact Freddie and ask.
Lets put it another way; Is a Movie actor/star or a Director/Producer shelling out 10 bucks every other week to go watch one of his fellow movie actors on the big screen? Probably not. One, it's not as exciting to them as it is to me and you. Two, they can probably watch it for free since they're in the industry, if at all. And three, they're too busy trying to make money for themselves.
But I'll take your point. It's all just speculation on my part.Last edited by cupocity303; 05-11-2013, 07:38 PM.Comment

why don't you use facts? it's hard to be biased when using facts. the top rank-golden boy didn't feud didn't start until september 2006 when pac signed with golden boy. floyd left top rank months before that. oscar didn't want to work with top rank is completely inaccurate but i guess you made it up in order to support your conclusion. do you work for any right wing think tanks by chance? if not apply today!

Oscar left Top Rank because he felt they did shady ****, and Arum didn't like that he aced him out. The feud started when Oscar left.
If Arum would have paid Floyd his 20 million and his 12 for Hatton Arum would have made money on the deal~ so I don't think he thinks he made the right call.
Facts are just facts, you can twist them any way you want to make an argument work, if you lack intellectual integrity.Comment

It was a misunderstanding, shall we move on?
Sure
Except you didn't, hence why we're still wasting time micro-analyzing a conversation that happened just 10 mins ago.
It got explained in the very next post and you should have been able to pick up on it in the first place.
I suppose it's fair enough of an explanation that he can now fight nobodies in terms of drawing power and generate just as much revenue by himself. Which goes right along in explaining the TS's question about why "fans" hate him and fighters/trainers don't.

People more focused on the nuances of the sport will probably be kinder to Floyd than say most casual boxing fans. People actually in the game are focused on that kind of stuff
I am perfectly fine with people not liking him also that has kept his money line below were it should be for a long time and more people bet with their hearts than their heads and there are no bets if everyone agrees.Comment
