The civilian fan is the consumer. Consumer demand is for Floyd/Pacquiao, Floyd/Alvarez. And for some reason or another, these guys are never good enough or in a position to get a fight with Floyd. Margarito didn't sell enough PPV's, but Guerrero did? Victor Ortiz did? Where did that old argument go? I haven't heard it in a while.

I think we should be on the lookout on who fights Andre Berto next, because that person might be next on Floyd radar if they win.
    Margarito?

That argument is that he was trying to fight Oscar who wanted nothing to do with Top Rank, getting a Margarito fight involved sticking around with Top Rank thus forgoing Oscar. What would you do in that situation?

What was the better move fighting Baldomir and still being free to fight Oscar or fighting Margarito and never getting a shot at Oscar.

Did you think Arum would just give Floyd that sort of money to fight an unknown in Margarito without strings?

Anything involving Top Rank involves money Floyd thinks Arum owes him money and still has a lawsuit against Arum to my knowledge, Arum doesn't like the fact that Floyd got over on him big time he does not respect Floyd on an intellectual level so it is hard for Arum to accept he got outplayed by him at his game.

I don't think that's the case. NSB doesn't represent the entire universe of boxing fans.

There were a lot of fans at the fight that appreciate his skill.

Why aren't fighters or trainers paying customers? How do they get fights for free?

Still amazes me that people mention the name of Margarito, when in hindsight it's a great thing that the cheating scumbag didn't receive another pay check.

You are correct. In recent years I have friends saying ''Mayweather dodges punches on some Matrix shit''. Then again I live in the UK and he is well received/respected here.

No need to rehash the 2007 arguments, which I've been part of around here and have read it all. I defended Floyd for fighting Oscar and Baldomir at that time.

I'm just bringing up Margarito in the overall picture (no need to get hunt on him). And this thread's question asked about the difference between fans (paying consumes) and trainers/fighters (beneficiaries of paying costumers) opinion on Floyd. The "he is not a big draw and can't sell PPV's" argument, which has since disappeared when it comes to selecting opponents. By that criteria, Ortiz and Guerrero weren't even close to qualifying.

                You asked?

Floyd always has an excuse to not fight Top Rank guys, why he does this and not say fuck Top Rank I will never work with them straight out is that he likes the heat he gets from the situation. If he deads that he changes his equation and I don't think he wants any part of that. Top Rank benefits also because they can uses Floyd's name free of charge with no real repercussions, which is cool for them considering they paid Floyd a lot for little return so they need to recoup that investment somehow.

Also Floyd is a much bigger star now than he was then, so it is not apples to apples.

                  So what?

Are you trying to goad me into a one on one debate, because it's a forgone conclusion that you will lose.

And you know this how? Because you can read Floyd's mind from your computer? Because you've got inside info?

What we do know is that Floyd used to cry (I.E. post-Baldomir fight) at all the criticism and how he never "gets the credit that he deserves". Maybe he's developed thicker skin since then and embraced his heel-ish role fully, I don't know. I'm not as proficient at it as you are.
