Why would you blame bob arum? The guy who helped make mayweather a star and stood behind him when hbo wanted nothing to do with him? Not to mention Arum is the guy who saved floyd and possibly his family's lives by paying of his ******** debts and buying his contract from j prince. Only a pathetic ingrate would blame bob for his problems after that... Oh wait,??
I blame Arum because he doesn't want to risk the golden goose possibly getting beat. I say Arum, because I don't think manny gives 2 ****s if he loses or not. That is Floyd and Arum's ego beef, not wanting each other to get the upper hand on the $$$$$
and pathetic ingrate,....really, you should'nt get so much in your feelings over a forum post.
I don't really care about Arum did or didn't do with all the other nonsense, I'm talking about the fight being made.Comment

do you feel the same way when Bob was Floyds promoter, that he didn't want to risk his "golden goose"?Comment

Mayweather was not the man at that time, Mosley danced around that because it was too much risk to reward; the same way the top guys are doing it nowLast edited by 2todabody; 05-11-2013, 03:56 PM.Comment

by fighters, trainers, managers, promoters, etc..... than he is by alot of fans? Ive always heard most all boxers, etc... give him mad props and it seems like they are appreciating him even more now that his career is coming to an end. Its like they realize that he's special, will soon be gone, and is a brilliant ATG.
Meanwhile its the opposite with the fans. He's getting hated on more by the day. Do you think they will appreciate him more when he's gone? The funny thing is alot of these fans who dont like him or think he's overrated are fans of the same boxers who think that Floyd is the best now and one of the best everComment

Arum has been in this business since before most of these posters were born. You make that statement as if the man lives paycheck to paycheck. But if that is your statement, and you feel its true,
do you feel the same way when Bob was Floyds promoter, that he didn't want to risk his "golden goose"?
Whatever beef Arum and Mayweather have is what I'm talking about. Neither 1 of them want to see the other get the upper hand in $$$$ negotiations. You know it and I know it.Comment

They've never seen a fighter like Floyd wehn guys like Oscar and Mosley and even Cotto probably have respect for Floyd but probably are not at all worried about his technique in the ring.
It's the younger guys who never saw the explosiveness and speed of the fighters of the past.Comment

Floyd's case is no more special than any other fighter at the top. The fans are always going to be the more critical group. No one denies he's a great fighter (repeating it with every piece of criticism would be unnecessary). But the paying public will, and is entitled to, demand their dollars worth. If it comes with some criticism, well then as Floyd would put it, "it comes with the territory." Cut Floyd's fan base by half, he'll be criticized half as much. Ask him which he prefers.
As for these boxers and managers, well they're just playing their part. First of all, I think it's natural for them to appreciate success in their own business and on that note, they're not in the business of cutting ties. The fans are biased, but many of whom are as close to the truth as you're going to get. The media, pffft, sometimes a few of them call it like it is and maintain a level of professionalism, but when they're interviewing Floyd they sugar coat their questions and very rarely follow up when they didn't even get a clear answer. Floyd Mayweather's toughest interview (or one of) was done by an underground rapper on Shade 45. You think that's a coincidence?
I don't know what you define as "hate." I don't consider most of what I see on this website so much as hate, but then again you or someone very devout to Floyd will likely be more sensitive to the subject. I don't consider asking a fighter (Floyd in this case) to fight one guy and not the other, and such things as that when it's warranted, as hate. (Saying outlandish lies about him without providing a link or any proof is something I would consider hate. I've noticed a lot of this when dealing with Pac HATErs and I'm sure you've seen such with Floyd HATErs).
I'll say there are a lot of dumb fans. I mean, look at the only guy that brought up pact*rds in this thread (when not all critics are). They're out there. So don't get me wrong, I get it. I consider Floyd Mayweather an all time great. But I do think that some of the criticism he receives is warranted. And it's like I said, it comes with the territory when you're among the best.Last edited by SCEN3RY; 05-11-2013, 05:05 PM.Comment

Because fellow fighters and trainers are part of the bizz (you know business). The civilian fan is the paying consumer. They don't pay to see his fights, they're trying to get paid like he is. They're trying to sell themselves like he is, etc,. etc,.
The civilian fan is the consumer. Consumer demand is for Floyd/Pacquiao, Floyd/Alvarez. And for some reason or another, these guys are never good enough or in a position to get a fight with Floyd. Margarito didn't sell enough PPV's, but Guerrero did? Victor Ortiz did? Where did that old argument go? I haven't heard it in a while.
I think we should be on the lookout on who fights Andre Berto next, because that person might be next on Floyd radar if they win.Comment
