i'd rate canelo above but not that much higher... tbh , canelo does'nt have the style , the abilty, the stamina , the workrate to beat floyd imo....i give him a puncher's chance but im pretty sure floyd will duck him for some reason....

DLH was coming off Mayorga, looking great, at a good weight, and this was Mayweather's first fight at 154

Alvarez is younger, stronger, with good skills and Mayweather has gotten older and looked vulnerable at 154 his last fight.

Floyd wouldn't even fight Trout to begin with. So i don't know why he says Canelo is not proven. Or are ya'll gonna say Guerrero was more experienced and more dangerous than Trout? I'll put all my money that Floyd would NEVER fight Trout. Canelo whooped Trout easy.

As for the topic, I'll say the truth is somewhere in the middle. That Oscar and this Canelo to me are probably roughly even. At this point Canelo is probably not gonna be the very best he could possibly be at 22 years old and Oscar was a part time boxer by that point. My only worry with Canelo is that he is gonna be one of those peak early types. Hard to imgine how far up he goes from here, but if he continues going up damn would that be good for the sport.

Both rank fairly meh for me on Floyd's career list, but beating the Golden Boy scores more points for me if I had to choose.

I can't see how anybody rational being could have seen that Trout won more than a round or two against Canelo. It must be the fighters' camps in here that make this bs up.

I win over Canelo would be more impressive than a win over Oscar. The reason being is that Floyd is approaching the twilight of his career and Alvarez is much younger, focused and determined with everything to prove as opposed to De La Hoya who had been semi-retired by the time he challenged Floyd with nothing to prove. Moreover by 2007; The Golden Boy was emotionally drained and was not fully as committed, dedicated or motivated to the sport as he had been in previous years. By that time he fought Mayweather, he was a part-time fighter at best, busy building his promotional company (Golden Boy Promotions) while tending to other business ventures as well.
