So one good fight is all it takes to impress you tards?
How about Rigo beats at least 2 more credible opponents before
      giving Mares no chance?

Usually that would be the case but when you SPANK a P4P fighter the way Rigo did Donaire, 1 good fight is all it takes.

I don't see Mares winning either, despite his quality. After 5-6 rounds he'd find himself standing in front of Rigo, trying to figure out what to do just like everyone else.

Mares-Donaire is still one of the very best fights that can be made in the sport though. I'd love to see it.

Where would the fight take place? Does GBP have no business ties with HBO anymore? It would be best if the dream fight was open for a bidding war between HBO & Showtime. HBO would probably win that contest which would result in a larger purse overall.

If GBP and Mares make an offer to Top Rank it will be for the lionshare of the purse and rightfully so if he is to assume the burden of returning to super bantamweight. Top Rank & Caribbe Promotions should leap at any reasonable offer financially (70%-30% split) to get Mares at super bantamweight whether on Showtime or HBO this fall. The powers that be on HBO have to really get behind this bidding war though because that's the only way this fight gets made in my view.

Donaire let Rigo control the pace and he almost never press the action. Mares can do it.

Forget Rigo, It ain't happening! Besides, Rigo already beat Mares before and he will get beaten again. Rigg is just too quick, not a good match-up for Mares.

                      nice!!

go mares.. showing the attitude of a warrior/people's champ!! I like this fight.. I don't think mares loses anything by losing to who now all of a sudden everyone see's as "the man".. I see this playing out like mayweather/cotto.. where mares pressures and slightly misses..

Here's the twist.. Rigindoux is no mayweahter.. Mares is the bigger draw.. so he might get the closer rounds, for pushing the fight.. but he's got to land some! Because I don't know if you guys know but this kid mares can BOX.. when was the last time donaire boxed?? all he was doing it laying fools out with power.. the guys with the broken jaw was too lanky to cause him problems..

either way no shame in losing to the top guy in your division... shame is ducking him!
