Make this fight happen! Mares has great movement and speed, I think that he has better chances than Donaire had. Still Rigo is the favorite but this would be a very interesting fight!

I wonder what his response will be now that Mares has indicated he'd be willing to move down. Rigo and his manager need to talk some sense into his jackass promoter, who's the only one standing in the way.

I agree. So many people counting Mares out when he has been in wars with the best in his division in one of the toughest divisions. He calls everyone out and is willing to fight anyone. That is rare these days, so why do people hate on him? Would we rather see him fight a tomato can? Fact is Mares has been fighting at such a high level cleaning out the division as opposed to Rigo who is only 12-0 with only credible fight IMO being Donaire. Mares's grit, superior fighting level, and willingness to fight the best, has him winning this hands down. After winning this he should be considered in the top 5 P4P.

In what facet is Mares better than Rigo? Donaire IMO is better than Mares .. Rigo out points Mares easily in my opinion

Donaire-Mares is definitely a better fight. I think Golden Boy would be more eager to make that fight as well. Rigo is too much risk with too little reward. From Arum's perspective Mares-Rigo is an attractive fight but it makes no sense for Golden Boy at all.

Personally I'd love to see them all fight each other and you could throw Leo Santa Cruz in there as well. Won't happen though.

Mares will actually present Rigo with more problems than Donaire, with his body punching and huge pressure. That being said, he will also get KTFO by rigo do to the same reasons I stated for his succes.

Rigo KOs him in 7 rounds in a close fight!

Rigo is on another level than Mares. I wish Golden Boy would jump through hoops to get that fight made, because I don't see Arum being much of an obstacle in those negotiations. I have my doubts that Golden Boy believes that's a winnable fight for Abner though.

Golden Boy have no reason to make that fight. Mares would have to demand it if it was to happen.

I don't see Mares winning either, despite his quality. After 5-6 rounds he'd find himself standing in front of Rigo, trying to figure out what to do just like everyone else.

Mares-Donaire is still one of the very best fights that can be made in the sport though. I'd love to see it.

Donaire-Mares is simpy the more exciting fight because both guys would throw caution to the wind. Take a shot to give a shot.

Rigondeaux is more calculated and would force his opponent to put on their thinking cap thus slowing down the fight and making it less exciting for the regular fan.

IMO Mares beats neither RiGod or Donaire.
