See this is my point.... everyone is saying "Canelo deserves a fight against Mayweather"! "Who else should fight Floyd"?

But ask yourself this question "Who deserves a fight against Canelo"? (at least 4 - 6 fighters that I can think of).

Look Canelo has lots of options... but if he wants the world... then he's gotta be willing to give up everything for it.

This Floyd fan hopes he does.... I doubt GBP and his team will allow it.

Man, fck that. Aside from Lara after he trashes Angulo, I'd say nobody. Maybe Kirkland but he pulled out of the fight last time and ain't fight since so he's out. And then there's the WBA Super Jr Middleweight Champion Floyd Mayweather .

Up until the Trout fight, even though Floyd is my favorite fighter, I though that Canelo was the one to beat him. People can only be judged by their last fight basically so when I saw Floyd/Cotto and Canelo's fights I said this may be the one. However, after watching the Trout fight I think Canelo's chances of beating Floyd (especially the reinvigorated more defensive Floyd) have decreased. The main thing is Canelo's workrate. He fights in spurts and for only about a minute a round or so. He cannot do that with Floyd. I do not think Floyd could take hard, clean shots from Canelo all night, however I am not sure Canelo will be landing those all night. It really is a toss up fight but I have a feeling people, even including myself yes, may be underestimating Floyd again. I do not think it would be easy work necessarily but I could see Floyd winning by UD. However, I think Canelo is the real deal and I could still see him winning depending on how he fights.
Canelo is still learning. He even says so himself after each fight. Canelo needs to take on a few fighters that have decent movement and/or are good counter punchers and/or are awkward. The two opponents that I can think of that Canelo can fight to give him that kind of experience are Lara and Molina.

Canelo, as you stated, has a low workrate .... he has shown to have stamina issues. Maybe it has to do with making weight or his training or gaining too much weight between fights. Whatever is the reason, he needs to fix that BEFORE taking on a guy where you need every ounce of energy and more to beat him .....

I agree, however; Floyd stated before that he don't like catchweights and like to fight people where they are most comfortable at so there is no excuses. With that said, Canelo is too big for Floyd, but I guess there has to be an unfair advantage in order for it to be fair, considering Floyd's skills.

I do want to add that if Floyd wants a catchweight, being that he is the cash cow and #1 P4P, he should call the shots and determine the weight. It's no different then the Klits calling the shots. If Floyd wants to be up front on the posters, 2nd in ring entrance, pick the glove sizes, size of the ring, where the fight takes place, whether or not there's an immediate rematch, etc., then he should because that is how boxing is today and he earned it. I don't like it, but that is how it is now. These types of things are in the negotiations and Floyd has earned that. Now Canelo would have the same options with dang near any other opponent not named Floyd Mayweather (and maybe Manny Pacquiao). If he beats Floyd, then maybe the negotiations are split, if he wins convincingly, then he would call most of the shots, if not all.

But I am more concerned with who Floyd decides to fight because his next opponent should be someone who is worthy and earned the shot, like Guerrero earned his, and I honestly can not think of anyone else who he can select where he will not get scolded for choosing. Canelo has many top names at 154 because it is stacked division, but as for Floyds september opponent i cant think of anyone else which is why i am asking for help from my fellow boxing freaks.
The two biggest ppv fights..... both would sell better than Canelo.... will never happen because of their promoter.

Floyds has been in a no win situation for years.... it's lonely at the top!

So pretty much, canelo is calling floyd out, and if floyd does not take the fight for whatever reason, and canelo decides to pick another top guy at 154, then floyd has no real deserving challenge to choose from for september?
