I'd bet dollars to doughnuts this is a ploy by Team Canelo to build his PPV sales for his upcoming bout against their true target, Miguel Cotto.
What's the rush for the Mayweather fight now? As it stands, Canelo has the power and size advantage, nothing else. Floyd showed that he's still the Floyd we all know, stick and move for 12 rounds.
They're using Mayweather's name to build this kid up. This is the same thing Arum did with Pacquiao. They will yap a lot, but price themselves out of the bout and continue to wait for Mayweather to age or show signs of decline.
I suppose you're thrilled at the prospect of Floyd v Alexander? He's gotta fight someone or take a risk. Another Guerrero-Ortiz-Shotto type opponent will right rightfully produce a big backlash.
Wonder how much money Alvarez is asking for and what Team Mayweather would offer. I have a feeling these guys will try and outdiva one another right out of the fight
85-15 or 80-20 is what Mayweather will want, and probably should get. I highly doubt he'll give any more than that, and without Canelo ever doing a PPV he hasn't really shown he deserves it. The biggest issue here I think is going to be money, and it's up to Canelo to decide if he wants to be a low B side for a chance to make a name for himself.
Who cares about what happened long back?
We are talking about where they are in their careers right now. Having said that it's not even true that canelo is way ahead. How much money was Floyd making when he was fighting in Michigan? Anywhere that's not important.
The guy has gate takings of $400 000 and he's demanding a fight and setting conditions with someone who has gate takings of over $16m?
He even has the audacity to demand the weight the way he's been doing with the likes of Lopez.
Some people are obviously ******ed. He looks at the arena and sees 40 000 people. He forgets that those people are only important if they are willing to pay. Cant you see the strategy here. They think they can fool people by hyping Canelo as this guy who sells massive arenas. Dude people paid $10 each, a damn $10 compared to the $3000 some people pay to watch Floyd fighting.
Even the PPV, dont you think if Canelo was that popular as they claim he would have headlined his own ppv by now? If Canelo fights Cotto, Cotto will be the A side because Cotto has headlined PPVs before, if Canelo fights Mayweather the same goes. As it is now Canelo is a nobody. People are willing to pay for Khan than for canelo. Khan is even a bigger brand than Canelo. It's all about revenue generated not just some people paying nothing filling stadiums.
