Hopefully it did low numbers and Showtime will somehow influence Floyd to fight better opponents that people want to actually see
MayDay ShowPPV, less than 1M PPV buys?

bad numbers will only push fight makers to fill in more quality cards in a PPV. Although Guerrero and Floyd was a legit match, it wasn't a PPV worthy fight. I really hope, for the the sake of us fans, that they didn't do more then 1mil buys. BTW, if you paid for that fight realize you were just bent over.Comment

900k is one third of what Floyd what typically do? Do you comprehend math? He averages slightly over 1M, more than Pacquiao or anyone. The record is 2.5M, which Floyd and Oscar did. 900k multiplied by 3 would be 2.7M, which would be a PPV record, shattering the previous mark shared by Floyd and Oscar. That is what he averages? 90% of this thread are people like this and pro Mexican fans that were touting Guerrero as a true warrior who was due to beat Floyd. Now he is a "nobody" that "never had a chance". So who does have a chance other than Canelo? Please name guys. Martinez cannot even walk, he would get destroyed. The haters can continue to hate. Guys like Rafael and Iole are always hating, remember their Donaire-Rigondeaux analysis? Who gives a **** what they think. How about you bored housewives enjoy top level boxing because soon Floyd will be gone, instead of *****ing about a boxer's ethnic background and PPV sales. The people that make money off the PPV's spend less time thinking and talking about it than all of you. That says a lot.
Reread my statement...I said 900K is 1/3 LESS....not 1/3 OF. Do YOU understand math?
Floyd/Cotto did 1.5 - (1.5M - 900K)/1.5M = 40% less
Floyd/Ortiz did 1.3 - (1.3M - 900K)/1.3M = 31% less
These are CONSIDERABLE drops in PPV buys. Don't let your stan status fool you.Comment

Don't know if this has been stated but 900K is indeed bad by Floyd standards. That is a bout 1/3 less than what Floyd would typically do. It's also substantially less than what Pacquiao did on Showtime against Mosley.
Considering the fight wasn't the most fan friendly, it doesn't look good for Floyd's September card unless he fights someone noteworthy.
As a fan, we should be happy. It may put pressure on Floyd to fight a more viable opponent.
Floyd should expect to sell as many ppv with a lesser opponent.....
As Pac sells against a premium opponent like Mosley?Comment

BTW, if the PPV numbers truly are 900K, that means this would be Floyd's lowest PPV numbers since Baldimir in 2006...the lowest since his De La Hoya fight.Comment

I think we're all realizing now how much Marquez shook up the boxing world with that knockout. If Manny and Floyd kept on winning, that idea of a ultrafight was still alive and well. Once Marquez threw that awesome straight right hand, it was gone.Comment

The truth of the matter is:
If a 900K buy rate is accurate then there is enough money for everyone to get paid (fighters, promoters, distribution, and Broadcaster).
Fact: none of the other fighters on the card had previous ppv appearances... bringing no buying power to the event..... In my opinion Showtime knew this when it decided to put together this solid undercard.
What ever the final ppv buy rate is, Showtime will know exactly what Mayweathers selling power is against weak opposition with no support from any other fighters. They will have all the facts to determine how to proceed with promoting the next ppv event, the data to gage the profit they can expect, and most importantly how to protect their investment while growing the Showtime Boxing brand.Comment
