Except it was Marquez who challenged Floyd. Marquez demanded the fight not the other way around.

Why do you just dribble BS , JMM came of 2 big KOs and he 144 on fight night , Floyd had been out for 2 yrs and was taking on the NO 2 p4p fighter in the world and Floyd weighed less than Manny fighting JMM .

JMM was the same weight fighting Floyd as what he was KOing Manny .

There is nothing but a pound or 2 between them in natural size starting from their 130 days , even today Floyd weighed in at 146 , a pound lighter than Manny did and you cry foul , thats a fanboy joke .

Floyd toyed with JMM and Manny got face planted all at the same weights , and Floyd would do it to JMM today , tomorrow , any day ,at any weight and 130-135 he would KO JMM and Manny , at 147 he schools the mortal crap out of them .

You talk weight but you got no clue , its like I always say , all you see is numbers the real meaning of the numbers you have no clue , but your not alone lots of kid fans got suckered into Mannys BS , but karma dont get suckered .

The only person claiming it was a catchweight was Cotto..his trainer didn't think so. Matter of fact i'll say Cotto is faster and more trouble at 147 than at 154 because his current weight makes him too slow. The only reason he moved up was because he got lazy, wanted to bulk up, and rely on his punching power vs slower opponents at 154 problem is they aren't all slow as he learned with Trout. If canelo aged ten years and his punches were easily telegraphed there'd be no problem fighting him in your eyes i'm sure. Funny tho Cotto has the balls to fight Canelo but Floyd doesn't..can't excuse that especially when you are walking around ranked #1 at 154 but won't fight in the division or defend the belt in the division.
You make my point. While Cotto may be a small Jr. Middleweight as Floyd is a small Welterweight; However it doesn't change the fact the Miguel is naturally wider and stronger than Mayweather at any weight class. This is why he was able to occasionally bully and rough up Floyd in their bout (especially along the ropes). Why couldn't he do that to Austin trout one may ask; It's because Austin is a natural 154lber who is probably larger and stronger than Cotto. Also, keep in mind that Mayweather ended his amateur career at 125 and began his professional career at 130. On the other hand, Miguel ended his amateur career at 140 and and began his professional career at the same weight of 140 lbs. It makes a difference.

They will most likely meet in September.

Canelo would probably earn Mayweather one of his biggest paydays yet. No one would sell more on Mexican Independence weekend than to fight Alvarez.

Also, I've noticed that the higher Mayweather moves up in weight, he is not as quick or mobile in the lower body, (his legs) as he was previously at the lower weight classes. This is especially true each time he moves up to fight at 154 lbs. It seems that the extra weight he carries slows him down substantially. This is probably the reason why he felt he got hit so much in his last two previous bouts at Jr. Middleweight; Especially the Miguel Cotto bout above the welterweight division. He doesn't move his feet as fluidly.

Now i'm a huge Cotto fan and if you can fight him beacuse he's the easiest belt holder to beat at 154, you should have to defend that belt at 154 against other similar sized guys. I'm tired of the Sergio is too big this and that, the canelo is too big this and that..well you just fought a guy who pretty much weighs the same around they do on their off day. Canelo rehydrated for trout to about the same weight Cotto fought Mayweather at..but of course somehow he'll still be too big so will sergio.
The easiest title holders to beat at 154 at the time Floyd fought Miguel Cotto were IBF champion Cornelious Bundrage and WBO champion Lukas Konecny. Cotto was the most popular, most proven, and the one coming off the most popular wins (Margarito TKO10, Mayorga TKO12, Foreman TKO9). And also the one who made the most sense for a PPV fight, from the available non-Top Rank fighters. That was the real reason Floyd chose Cotto.

There's that small chance that Guerrero does Castillo I-esque good and warrants an immediate rematch from a Floyd who's full of pride and would fight Guerrero again in September. A small chance, but it could happen.

canelo would also break records !

plus mayweather needs to stop using the size as a excuse ! hehis last fight for pete sake was at 154 ! and he fought oscar at 154 ! why isd he ducking and dodging people like martinez and alverez who are at the same weight class of 154 !
its not the 154 thats the issue its the fact canelo will come in weighing like 173 on fight night. just because alot people want to see floyd lose dont mean you cant be realistic
