Sergio recognizes his responsibility to the TV Boxing fan not to just win but to entertain. Do any of you honestly feel, with how much faster and smarter he's been than his recent opponents that he couldn't box and coast to a win? Really? Gtfoh. He knows how boring that would be so he's trying desperately to push the action which gives his opponents the openings to land some shots and hurt him.

The only true knock I have on him is his lack of counter punching, specifically last night. Murray was there to be hurt bad, Sergio made him miss about a billion times and he didn't punish the average (yes he's very f'n average) and very slow (more slow than average) Martin Murray.

But Boxing fans love Murray now because despite not coming to win and sitting in a shell, he got gifted some opportunities and landed some big shot.
Of course he came to win, only just got his tactics wrong. What was he supposed to do, hang his chin up in the air and windmill against one of the very best fighters on the planet?

His reflexes have diminished. Being honest I felt he looked soft, compared to normal.

He looked one-dimensional, the speed wasn't there, his jab was not what it was - that was one hell of a weapon. His punch resistance is very questionable IMO 5 of his last 8 have decked him & I'm sorry but Macklin & Murray are not punchers.

Rule them slips or whatever, his punch resistance is on the fade.

I say all this as a fan as hes going to lose to some absolute bum before hes finished. Any other country & he may not of got the nod.

Credit to Murray, he came with a great gameplan, 'he good boy' but for me is the weakest of the trio - Murray, Barker, Macklin, I think both the others beat him soundly I really do.

I don't want to see Sergio fight again after tonight, I had him destroying GGG, Quillin etc before now I think GGG in particular literally ends his life.

Sorry fellow Martinez fans but hes shot to ****. He had a lucky escape tonight.
Good call Dan You said it after the Murray fight. But I don't understand why you chose him to pick Cotto.

... But vain hope is eternal...

(I couldn't pick him over Cotto.)
