  • Let's keep it simple.

So to keep the debate going about the September date, let's now assume that Mayweather vs Canelo will not happen. Let's also assume that Mayweather will fight in September. In that case Mayweather will surely get that date.

Let's now talk about Canelo's options. Let's go from here to simplify things.

Does he have the option of breaking ties with GBP?

    • Unless Cotto declines, it will be Canelo-Cotto sometime in September.

Forget about Mayweather-Canelo...for now. I'd love to see Canelo fight Vanes Martirosyan. A better matchup than Trout.

I agree with you regarding JMM and the weight class. But these guys drop so much weight to make a certain weight class. The only fight that cements Floyd's legacy is Pacquiao. Canelo could have 2 fights right now that would be as big if not bigger than a Floyd, Chavez or Martinez. If i'm Floyd, if Canelo wants to fight, we fight at 147. My terms, I got the most to lose.

I don't know if he is or isn't ...I'm not in his mind but fighting Canelo isn't the end all or be all. He didn't fight Pac-man and financially and career-wise he ended up just fine.

Beating floyd then and beating Canelo now are not equal. Is that enough context?
Herein lies the problem with your argument, WHO IS THERE LEFT AT 147 FOR FLOYD TO FIGHT(where it would be competitive)?

            • If it ends up being cotto vs canelo, I hope it's in MSG!

                lol.

thanks for admitting he's afraid though. guys only ditch belts when they're afraid to defend them.

Canelo fighting blow up 140 lb guys means what?

For the record, Floyd has NEVER weighed even close to 154 in any of his at that weight. Why do you fail to even give credence to the fact that Floyd is a welterweight and Canelo is really a middleweight or maybe a light heavyweight that drops 20-30 lbs to fight at 154

Flawed argument. Honing your craft does not equate to more PPV success. Refer to Hopkins/Gatti as prime example. Andre Ward for as good as he is, he can't headline a PPV match regardless of who is in front of him. Sad, but true.
