If that's Trout looking terrible, when he gave Canelo a tough fight (which split the entire boxing community as to who won), then i'd like to see him not looking terrible

Yes, Canelo showed great defense, tell me the last time you saw Trout miss that many punches? Sorry Cotto got his ass beat in NY in front of his fans and the same didn't happen to Canelo!

He won almost every round against Cotto, but none of them where dominant. Cotto looked featherfisted in the fight too. Canelo has at least more punching power and the rounds where similar to the Cotto fight, with the difference that Canelo is a bigger fighter than Cotto, and threw more effective punches.

Sure, he showed a lot of heart getting up and not getting stopped, but I think that had more to do with Canelo being gassed. Trout didn't show much ambition. What the heck happened? Why did he look so terrible?
I don't think he saw the rigondo/donaire fight

Never said Canelo was overrated, don't know where you got that from. And also, I've given Canelo his due credit, I just don't overrate him like others do here. Fighting for 30 seconds/rd ain't gonna cut it against Floyd. Also, he needs to hire a guy like Heredia and hook up with a better trainer.

There's a lot of undeveloped potential there and I feel that his current trainer is topped out. Canelo is becoming predictable and fighting in short spurts won't get him very far.

He didn't look terrible. He arguably won.

This is a big point. The man is a southpaw, while he will always be troubling with his stance and skillset, he will always be troubled by guys with solid, well times, right hands.

i have no clue what you are talking about?

trout looked good, not great but he certainly proved himself to be a legit opponent. he barely lost to an excellent fighter.

canelo just fought a very good fight. his defense improved tremendously and he was using it to bait trout to be aggressive so that it would create counter punching opportunities.

but trout was too smart to over commit knowing alvarez has so much power and was looking for a KO punch all night. so trout made the right move and took some steam off his shots and focued on maintaining a busy workrate instead.

it won him plenty of rounds too. however alvarez' cleaner, harder shots were enough to win fight but very narrowly. trout fought one hell of a fight, alvarez just fought even better.
