Why did Trout look so terrible last night?

I made an ass out of myself telling some of my uncles that missed Trout vs Cotto that Austin Trout was a legit opponent and I thought Canelo would probably lose against him. And then Austin looked like absolute crap....

Sure, he showed a lot of heart getting up and not getting stopped, but I think that had more to do with Canelo being gassed. Trout didn't show much ambition. What the heck happened? Why did he look so terrible?

most of you overrated him he really didn't look that great to me against cotto or rodriguez but i guess cotto was a name fighter so that probably had something to do with many overhyping that win but the fight kind of played out how i thought so i was not impressed i had that fight 7-5 trout and thought he missed alot against cotto

he seemed like he was trying to win with a jab alone
that wasn't gonna cut it, he shoulda known better
Alvarez was deliberate as hell, fighting in spots
and he looked winded after only a few rds
there was plenty opportunity for Trout to do more
he was hesitant, even before he got dropped
the guy fought a gunshy fight, too wary of Alvarez' power

I don't think he looked bad at all. I had him winning 6 rounds. The only reason he lost on my card was the knock down.

I never thought much of trout and it's good for boxing with canelo winning.

Canelo is what happened. Simple, Trout is a good fighter but Canelo was better. Hit him with thunder that Cotto couldn't hit him with. Ginger Bread Boy puts alot into his punches.

I agree with this 100% I hated the fact that neither guy let it all go in the 12th, it was a weak performance during the championship rounds by both guys....I told everyone that Canelo better stay away from Floyd if he's gonna lunge in the way he did against Trout. He'd be target practice for him. He won't have the luxury of taking 2:30 minutes off against a guy like Floyd.

At first I thought Trout would win like everyone else but looked over Trout's resume and realized it was pretty **** too and he was getting overrated based on the close Cotto win. His resume was a little better than Canelo's just because he had the cotto win but other than that he didnt beat anyone of note and most of his opposition had pretty bad records.

I picked canelo based on his crisp punches and defense and presumably a higher work rate though it sounds like he stunk up the place as well.
