Canelo, Martinez vs Mayweather: When weight matters

Canelo weighed 172lbs, Floyd weighs 150 the day of the fight against Cotto, 151 vs DLH. Sergio is around 174 for his fights. Floyd isn't a JMW, I think brute forcing Floyd out of the ring by putting him up against a super middleweight/light heavyweight doesn't really prove anything if he were to lose to either guy. His skill alone would most likely handle Canelo but I would not bet money on Floyd winning either fight, and that doesn't take anything away from Floyd as a fighter

Some people are going to say he shouldn't have fought at 154 twice if he weren't willing to take the division seriously and I agree 100%, he shouldn't expect the fans and media to not criticize him for avoiding certain fights @154 since he fought there twice

But weight classes do matter, both Trout and Canelo are middleweights masquerading as JMW, let's stop pretending otherwise

I agree everyone with a brain knows Floyd is still better than cAnelo. But he's seriously too big like I've been saying. Floyd might as well fight rigo

And Ortiz was also a MW pretending to be a WW, but Floyd fought him

If you make weight, you make weight

God you are pathetic, you say Mayweather is better than Canelo but he shouldn't fight him cause of size, Mayweather is the super champion in Canelo's weight class he deserves a shot .

I disagree but that's another argument for/against same day weigh ins

Devils advocate: let's say PEDs were legal in boxing, if one guy decides not to use them for whatever reason (side effects, "unnatural", taints victory) and loses to a guy who uses them, would you be saying "PEDs are fair game, legit win"?

I wouldn't. Just because one guy is willing or capable of putting on massive weight doesn't make it a fair advantage

If size is the only reason that ppl feel canelo beats Floyd then that says everything that needs to be said. And that's really the only reason. Canelo is clearly inferior in every category besides size and power.

You do understand how weight classes and making weight work? Its to ensure as level a playing field as possible and maintain safety. They may rehydrate in between the weigh in and the fight by however many pounds, but they dont miraculaously gain that in strength...that takes longer. If Floyd wants to be considered a LMW champion, then there is **** all wrong with fighting a LMW. If you can Make the weight, you are a LMW...simple.

Don't be fooled Floyd come in heavier than 151 in the ring. You think he really allows Hbo to weight him before he goes into the ring...i don't belive his ring in weight, look at him years ago as a welterweight and look at him today after he gets in the ring with Guerrero, not weighing what hbo tells us his is weighing.

Same could then be said of any fighter, including Alvarez. Seriously, of u gonna make a conspiracy theory about one fighter, there's no reason u can't make them apply to them all especially a young hype job like alvarez
