The thing people keep ignorantly ignoring is that Donaire didn't do anything at all and fought very hesitant barely opening up but everybody is blaming Rigo here. Rigo, understandably so, fought his fight and played it close to his chest as this was his big opportunity and was intent in securing victory by displaying beautiful boxing skills. Put Rigo in with Mares and the fight is fireworks as I can assure you that Rigo will be very offensive and will be finding many openings. This fight was two counter punchers against each other, yet Rigo who was throwing and landing more shots solely gets the blame for it? Put Rigo in with some of Donaire's last opponents who were brawlers like Vic or Montiel and Rigo decapitates them as well.

Arum is an idiot, talent like Rigo doesn't come around very often and he should be praising it like the OP says. It's not like Donaire was ever some big draw, he's never been that and was never going to be. Rigo actually has a better shot with his immense talent and the fact that Latinos of all regions took notice.

ppl want to be entertain. Rigo is not selling out those seats anytime soon. His style or that fight to some ppl was boring, which is why fans were boo'ing.
And what was Donaire doing about it? Following Rigo around and not throwing any shots?

It's ridiculous and unfair that the blame is being put on Rigo, who was landing way more shots, than Donaire who was too hesitant to do anything in fear of being countered.

Wouldn't you be pissed if you'd seen potentially $100 million swirl away down the toilet in a 4 month span?

Any normal thinking human being can understand why he's not. That kind of style doesn't attract millions of paying casual fans. It's only attractive to streamers.

Ppl dont need toe-to-toe war to be satisfied but watching fighters who run, back up or dont engage wont be selling out seats anytime soon. Rigo has huge ability and can fight like that all he wants and win every fight but ppl will still rather see Donaire even though he lost. There is a reason why TV networks puts Donaire on or promoters hype him up.

i agree rigo would do nice work with the guys 'nito fought as well.
but i disagree with your point that rigo will be a bigger draw than donaire.

donaire is an american with an appealing style for casual fans that can possibly carry the torch from pac. im sure thats why arum put donaire on the shelf until pac started to fade... now we are seeing the donaire hype machine. the guy can box, punch, and speak with charisma. the marketability of donaire is clear.

rigo, on the other hand, is the superior boxer but suffers from some serious marketing deficits... polarizing boxing style, reclusive personality, language barrier, etc.... we see it time and time again. rigo is a boxing purist's wet dream, but you heard the boos from casual fans. rigo is a tough sell... regarding cubans & miami, gamboa had more potential for stardom because of his explosive style. i really hope rigo gets the shine he deserves, the dude got serious talent.

if its not fun watching a blowout blame Donaire for not making the fight competitive
