Because it's the status quo to hold onto your ideals. You just can't your head around the fact, that maybe, just maybe, Rigo is a once in a lifetime skilled fighter.

I get it. It's like the first time watching Ali fight. You just can't grasp the idea that some young punk could beat Sonny Liston, and make him look like a bum.

It's a shock to your system, and you can't handle it yet. Just give it a few more fights, and you'll start realizing the truth.

      1) Why has the most skilled fighter of all time who "punches like a bazooka" failed to knock out four out of his 12 opponents?
      2) Why has the most skilled fighter of all time already been taken to a split decision?
      3) Why has the most skilled fighter of all time been on his ass twice in his first 12 fights in the low weight divisions when Mayweather has been down once in his career, despite being a lesser skilled fighter than Donaire?
      4) Why does the most skilled fighter of all time have a lower connect percentage and a higher percentage landed against him than Mayweather despite fighting worse opposition on average even though his output is lower?

I don't like to take away from great achievements but someone has to question the **** people put out on here.
#4 - Rigo throws many throw away punches that are put out there to make his opponent thing, to blind them, to confuse them. These are counted as punches just the same, even though they are not thrown with the intent to land or cause damage. This negatively effects his "stats". Thankfully "stats" don't govern a fighters skill level. The stat that maters though, opponent connect rate, he matches or beats Floyd.

#3 - Vs Cordoba it was an obvious off balance where he got hit with a pushing jab while stepping and lost hi footing, vs Donaire he was clearly expecting a break and was borderline cheapshotted, although he should have been prepared for it. Floyd was also dropped by Zab Judah with a right hook but it was not called, and badly hurt by Demarcus Corley. Nobody said Rigo has the greatest chin of all time.

#2 - We already covered this. The fight with Cordoba was not difficult, and the scoring was atrocious. He wont the fight clearly. Watch for yourself.

Nobody said he has the best chin of all time.

#1 - Nobody said he is the hardest puncher of all time. Nobody said he is the greatest finisher of all time. He doesn't really go for the KO, if it happens it happens.

Still that was TEN YEARS ago and over 3 rounds in an amateur system, Pro boxing is a different game. Rigo has shown he can beat the best pro in his division already but Mares brings a different set of problems and would try to rough him up
It was actually 4 rounds in 2003. I agree things can be different in the pro's, but we have seen how vulnerable Mares is to getting hit in his last fight. I don't think the result would be different.

JMM super blown up by the time he fought Mayweather and wasn't in his prime.

          Corrales, made to order.

          Oscar, no explanation needed.

Rigo beats a top p4p fighter in his prime, and all of a sudden Donaire's a bum. I think you don't know **** about boxing, if you're downplaying this win. I honestly don't think you can comprehend how big this fight was.
No. JMM is still regarded higher because of the performance put on, so is Corrales. JLC even though people thought he lost the first one, immediate rematch and blew him out. Mosley was a beast and everyone thought Mayweather was scared and ducking, and he demolished him. I can list the old fights which are impressive too, again in dominate fashion. So mayweather has bigger fights, and a lot more, on his resume... If you're honestly sitting here thinking Rigo is more highly rated as a pro than Mayweather you need to watch a bit more boxing. He's not higher than a LOT of current fighters from this era.

With last nights performance I am going to put it out there that Rigondeaux is probably the most skilled boxer to ever step into the ring.

We just saw a 32 year old fighter on the downside of his prime dismantle a top 5 p4p fighter in his prime.

I am not saying he is unbeatable, he still has to prove that against a fighter who can take his punches and is willing to eat them to deliver their own like a Roberto Duran, but skill wise I think it can now be argued that he is without equal.

The closest I can think of is maybe Pernell Whitaker, but Rigo is equally slick, is better at controlling the pace of fights, and is more precise with his punches.
            Bwahahahahahahah

That's fair. I get where you're coming from.

No because he's not done enough yet to even think about making such assertions, thus making such assertions ridiculous.

                • he'll have to do more to get into the hall but that movement was incredible and the left cross so fast donaire couldnt seem to see it coming. u got that? not the right jab which is the lead hand a foot and a half closer but the left cross. i thought i was halucinatin. great skills, great fighter but 2b a legend u gotta do it over time and a run of a career. iv seen rig fight a couple times before and never seen him that surgically precise. imo the most intriguin match for him now is the one tha mightb the most boring, anselmo moreno. mares showed how to get moreno but can rigo fight that rough aggressive style? anyway, im impressed as hell n loved the fight n the fact that they didnt give it to the name guy like they usually do. the right guy won

Pretty sure Pacquiao just got stopped by a counter puncher because he decided to not be gun shy.

LMFAO. Corrales and JLC??? If you gave Donaire a 122 lb. version of Corrales and JLC, they're both utterly outclassed, and or KO'd.

No one said he's regarded higher than Floyd. We're saying he's more skilled by a hair. A flight margin.
