I don't think he'd be going into this fight all confident, could be a trainwreck. Even Rosado and Proksa came in with belief, and Ishida doesn't give a ****, he'll fight a bear.Comment

When I said it was a record low, I was not exaggerating. It really an all time low rating for an HBO boxing main event. It was eventually beaten by Lara-Vanes, but barely. Martinez-Chavez had 500k buys and way more than 1 person was watching that per household that bought it. That was massive exposure. Nobody knew who Golovkin was and beating Golovkin in September wouldn't have meant much at all to the pubic. Beating him now with all the hype actually will mean something to the public.
So Macklin actually turns down down Julio, seems to be heading towards the harder fight in Golovkin, and you still bitch! There's no win for Macklin I guess.k he ko'd his confidence booster in 45 secs and now hes complaining about not being ready in June even tho he's been chasing a JCC fight in june for god knows how long.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 04-02-2013, 09:44 PM.Comment

It was still better then what he took, there's no denying that. A belt on an HBO headliner, at least 2X the money and a win over a top ranked opponent if he had won. Nobody was watching him on the PPV, that was all for Chavez-Sergio and the fight ended in 1 min. Even less people knew who Alcine was and beating him had way less upside to it then beating Golovkin for a belt for way more money. Macklin didnt turn julio down, julio turned him down. Im not b1tching but now all we're gonna hear is "macklin hasnt fought in 15 months, its a **** win for Golovkin, it already started in this thread. When I said it was a record low, I was not exaggerating. Yea i agree, him making comments about not wanting this fight because he hasnt fought in 15 months shows he isnt too confident, when he was up for a chavez fight. Hopefully its not the caseComment

Macklin taking this now would be enough proof that his decision was correct. He turned it down in September, why? Likely because the risk didn't meet the reward. He's accepting it now, why? Because likely the risk meets the reward. Are you Macklin's manager or promoter? Do you know the intimate financial details more than Macklin himself? It was still better then what he took, there's no denying that. A belt on an HBO headliner, at least 2X the money and a win over a top ranked opponent if he had won. Nobody was watching him on the PPV, that was all for Chavez-Sergio and the fight ended in 1 min. Macklin rejecting Julio came straight out of Arum's mouth. Are you Julio's promoter now as well? Do you know more than Arum? Macklin hasn't denied it.
The fact is that he is inactive. Nothing can change that and it's too late for a tuneup. I have no idea why he couldn't take a fight earlier, but I don't know the details so I can't judge. I don't know how his nose recovery was going and how he felt, and I don't know what options were available for him as a tuneup. You guys don't know either. The thing is, you and hero bando have for weeks now been implying that Macklin would be ducking if he didn't take this fight in June. Now that there's more concrete news of Macklin is taking it, you guys are agreeing that Macklin not having the confidence to fight Golovkin would be a trainwreck, which is pretty much exactly what Macklin was saying himself. But money talks I guess, and enough money was put up for him risk it with his inactivity.Im not b1tching but now all we're gonna hear is "macklin hasnt fought in 15 months, its a **** win for Golovkin, it already started in this thread.
I personally think Macklin should wait till later in the year, but oh well. As long as he's no longer being accused of ducking on an internet forum, it should all be okay.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 04-02-2013, 10:51 PM.Comment

I like Macklin, but despite GGG not having faced a "proper" opponent yet, I get the feeling it's just a matter of time before Golovkin shows us he's the real deal. If this fight happens, which would be awesome, I'd expect him to beat Macklin and then I think lots of quality fights can start to be made. Opponents couldn't exactly say "who has he fought?" anymore.
Frankly, even though the Ishida fight was one-sided, it was a pretty great exhibition of skill. The guy seriously knows what he's doing in the ring and apparently has some heavy ass hands to pair with that. I expect to be made into a full believer at some point.
By the way, I'd already favor him over Chavez Jr. by a country mile. I'd bet all my points he stops him.Comment
