Golvkin actually might pull off 5 fights this year, crazy! If he can get another one around sept/oct and then squeeze another one in at the end of dec

Excellent news. I was hoping for Geale or Macklin.

He said he wanted a tune up since he literally has one round in 15 months....some posters think it's and excuse to "duck". If the fight happens and Macklin loses, it will be an excuse for the loss though....double edged sword.

Still a great fight regardless though.

That's how dumb a lot of these fanboys are.

It is what it is but I can just see 3G maybe not getting "full" credit because of that fact. I guarantee that will be Macklin's reason in the post fight presser...that much I know, lol.

He similarly had an excuse for September, and January. The tuneup thing was published a month ago. You don't think he could have found a warm body to tune up on in a couple of weeks? GGG just fought his weekend. Maybe Macklin's promoter should have a talk with Warren, it's not that hard. Especially if you're hungry for your first title, and a very good payday.

I like Macklin and would have liked for him to get some rounds in before stepling into the ring with GGG who's been very active and in peak condition. I wouldnt make an excuse on Macklins behalf but thats one of the bigger fights at 160 and dont want to hear the excuses if Macklin loses.

I prefer not to pick since I like both but I think Macklins corner will stop it due to cuts if he has no answer for the jab... But Rosado pushed GGG back a few times and seemingly buzzed him so we'll see what Macklin (whos better) can do. Still..if McGirt is there we know how he doesn't let the beatings get out of hand for his fighters.

Good fight, not rooting for either and will just sit back and enjoy

Golovkin had no belt when he first fought on HBO, had zero notable wins, and the fight ended up being a record low rating for HBO. I doubt a Golovkin paycheck would be any good for his first fight. There was no real incentive to fight him post traumatic Martinez KO, especially when you can fight him later for more money.

Macklin had a freaken nose operation in the time of Golovkin's next fight. Apparently not wanting to fight with a fucked up nose isn't an acceptable excuse for Hero Bando. Fight through the pain!
