Lol, at people arguing on assumptions. Look, he may be the greatest and he may not be the greatest. All the greatest stuff is far to subjective to get into a debate over. Worse yet, when one is dealing with fighters who will never fight, because either some are retired or dead and long gone. Floyd lovers will worship him and Floyd haters will always find a way to discredit him, so the Mayweather saga will never end. Please, just appreciate what he has brought to the support.

he's not the most talented fighter of all time, though.

the basic components of talents in boxing are speed / fleetness, power, and chin. that's what you're born with. you "bring it with you to the sport."

sugar ray robinson had dynamite in either hand, had faster hands than mayweather [especially when throwing with power,] and he had one of the greatest chins ever.

that's a more talented fighter. go through the experts on the history of the game and you'll find them citing robinson as the most purely talented fighter ever.

he'd also wipe the floor with floyd mayweather, even if his defensive skills weren't close to as good as floyd's. he'd have way too much power and activity to lose a decision. robinson's chin made up for whatever defensive liabilities might show up when comparing him to the greatest defender in the history of the WW division.

there are quite a few WW i pick to beat floyd. he's small. the big four are leonard, robinson, hearns, and burley. they all had the chin to take floyd's best gas, and the style to either beat him on points or stop him.
      Pernell Whitaker.

and when it comes to natural talent...floyd can't compare with roy jones. roy is so talented he neglected the basics most of the time.

i also believe that roy jones is a more talented fighter than floyd mayweather. he had unreal speed and power.

likewise with muhammad ali and ray leonard. they had more talent than floyd's got. not only were those two fast, but they both had iron chins. ali's chin was insane.

i don't think floyd has an awful jaw, but it's nowhere near the level of some of the greatest of the great.

You are reaching now. Hopkins has nothing on Floyd. If he want a fighter who feast on weak opponents with limited skill, it is Hopkins. Hopkins is also one of the dirtiest fighter in the sport.

I love when fan boys of a certain fighter makes these threads, and everyone dissects and exposes all the holes in said fighters careers.

It's like you want people to expose everything negative about Floyd.

Greatness is not subjective. Hypothetical fights are subjective. Skill level can be subjective. Greatness is easy to decide. Greatness is all about what you actually did.

I would say Ali and SRR, because most copied them. Not Sugar Ray and not Jones. Floyd is way more efficient than Jones and Sugar ray, Just the way Lebron is more efficient than Kobe. This shows a higher level of intelligence. Jones and Sugar ray at times, appear to me, to be unable to adopt, atleast the way Floyd does.

roberto duran, more appropriately, if we are talking about 135.

at 147 i wouldn't pick whitaker to beat floyd mayweather. i'd only give him a shot at 135.

duran is an odd case. if he shows up at his very best he could very well beat floyd at whichever weight, obviously with 135 being his best.

I don't trust the media to educate you especially since entertainment is preferred. I will give the Martial Art of Boxing it's just due.

his best win is diego corrales FFS.

thank you for destroying any sort of credibility you have on this site with this garbage thread.

Greatness doesn't have a standard, it is based on consensus, so it's really what people want to give you credit for.
