it's just how people made pacquiao out to be the best fighter because he was beating guys who were considered bigger than him but they were not necessarily that great of a win if it was someone other than pacquioa doing it.

if calzghe fought pavlik at a cathweight of 170 woould that have been a great win for him?no
if calzaghe fought winky wright at 170 would that have been a great win for him?no
if dawson would of beat pascal would that have been a great win for him?no
thats the point i'm trying to make if a great win for you is not also a great win for other fighters in your division than it's not that great of a win
Except those were never considered to be great wins for Hopkins in the first place, some are good solid wins.

To me it is May weather easily...nobody knew what they were watching when RJJ-BHop I happened...retrospectively it is Roy, but boxing climate at the specific point in time it is Floyd by miles.

I'd argue Andre Ward deserve to be mentioned on same list as Mayweather or Jones jr If he actually had away fights in that super six tournament like every other fighter who was apart of it.

The question to think about is how good were the versions that Jones beat of B-Hop and Toney. To me those dudes were not close to their best when Jones fought them, should Jones just get credit for beating them at their best without really looking at those fights and where those guys were.

Sure they both went on to have more success, B-Hop much more so. Even though Toney was undefeated when Jones smashed him, just watch his fight immediately before and you tell me the direction he was headed at that point in time.

all you are doing is proving my point about expectations by bringing up the fact that hopkins didn't look good against jones these are the reasons some may see his opponents possibly beating him not because they themselves are considered great fighters or they are not styllistically made for hopkins
The judges in Nottingham yeah. The same place where Dirrell was robbed against Froch, and Bradley was nearly robbed against witter. Yeah, sure the judges seen it differently.

James Toney was the #2 P4P fighter in the world when Jones beat him, Hopkins while green was four years older than Roy, and was considered a big step up for the younger Jones.

I'm gonna have to say Mayweather.

Ward doesn't have the resume yet, but that's because of a shallow division both at his weight and above!

I love Jones but the Hopkins he fought was a novice compared to a prime version, and Toney was nearly dead from dehydration. Roy didnt fight the guys that he could have with the talent he had! Which is ironic seeing as I'm voting Floyd, but he does have a better resume than Roy!

A step up because Jones had done nothing and had been matched soft because that is what his father wanted, not because B-Hop was viewed as anything.

I don't care about his pound for pound ranking I am talking about the guy in the ring those are not the same thing, the Toney in the ring that night was not the Toney that earned that ranking, watch his 10 fights before Jones and tell me what you see in Toney~
