Iron, what doesn't get brought up is where Dawson got caught, he got hit square on the chin and in one instance directly under the chin, which is the most vital area on the chin. Remember, even Froch was shocked at Ward's power, I remember seeing him pause quite a few times after getting hit, and Froch was getting hit on top of the head too. Dawson, didn't show me any signs at the weigh in, in the first two rounds he looked strong but a lot of that needs to be attributed to those left hooks. I'm with you though, I'm saying he wasn't at 100% no doubt, but I'm also saying it's been exaggerated. He didn't look too bad at the weigh in, was hard to tell.
When he came to the ring, what's important, he was clearly drained and badly drained at that. He was a dead man in there.
I don't consider the Green win good at all just a solid win against a decent fighter. Just about solid really. Certainly better than Dawson. But Bika was a better example of a solid win for Ward.

Ward has underrated pop, he has respectable pop, but I don't think he has the kind of power to drop Dawson. I'm not sure, I think it's a little concidental that the time where he seems drained, has dropped 7 lbs, he seems to have no punch resistance to someone like Ward he isn't known for dropping fighters left and right.Iron, what doesn't get brought up is where Dawson got caught, he got hit square on the chin and in one instance directly under the chin, which is the most vital area on the chin. To me, his leg's seemed not there at all. He seemed completely dead to me. I'm a fan of Ward, I was saying IF Dawson can make the weight it's a top fight. At first glance, I was impressed, but on a second viewing it was clear to me that Dawson was dead at the weight.
I don't think it's over exaggerated, personally. That was one of the more severe cases of a fighter being drained I've seen. Only one that comes to mind that worse is Oscar-Pacquaio.Comment

It wasn't just 'twice a year' I was basing it on, but it equates to a more active fighter. Moreover, one fighting at two different weight classes and winning having just stepped up from a third.
No acknowledgement of fighting and stopping a top 5 (really top 3) pfp fighter away from home?
that's much better than anything Floyd has managed in recent yearsLast edited by Weebler I; 03-13-2013, 05:57 PM.Comment

Have to agree, Dawson was badly drained. When a fighter who typically takes a good punch is being dropped like that, the drop to the lower division obviously messed him up. Huge Ward fan, but it's just the truth about that fight.Ward has underrated pop, he has respectable pop, but I don't think he has the kind of power to drop Dawson. If Dawson can rebound, I wouldn't mind a rematch at 175.Comment

Ward is the P4P#1 fighter in the world whether Floyd likes it or not. He looked far better in his recent fights than Floyd did in his recent fights. But, I don't think Floyd is bitter about him because of that. It's something else about Ward that's pissing him off.Comment
