You need to analyze more than what you stated. Most importantly is who they were at the time they fought Floyd and what condition were they.

If you want to talk about inconsistent fighters, you just named quite a few of them (circa when they fought Floyd). Analyze that and come back to me.

    I can get you going:
Baldomir: What did he do? Did he beat any good true WW? So lets move on.....
Corrales: He was severally drained in that fight. Had trouble making weight. Also struggled in his 135lbs fights. So imagine at 130 where he fought Floyd? He came 2lbs over weight at the weigh in. While Floyd was hydrating himself, Diego was dehydrating(draining) himself. Do I need to say more?
Mosley: Had not fought in about 16 months and was about 39 years old. Bad combo ..... kept on losing after that.
Hernandez: It was his last fight then retired.
Canelo: At the time, still very raw fighter that had to drain down to 152. Canelo said it was the toughest thing he had to do. Even Floyd's team added that he had stamina issues, slow work rate, relatively flat footed and his game plan was to out box Floyd.

Maidana: Which great WW did he beat again? Gloves scandal? and so on

Duran: SRL win is just way better than anything you said about those other names. Its really not comparable. Even some of Duran's close losses should be ranked up there when all things are considered. Duran fought Hagler at close to 160!!!

PLUS: Floyd kept on using his A-side status to get the extra edge in a fight. Especially when one brings up legacy talk, it kills Floyd in a really bad way.

    .
still doesnt change that Mayweather beat more champions, won more lineal titles, defeated more hall of famers, etc......those are the facts

Now since you wanna throw around names......Roberto Duran lost in his prime to Esteban De Jesus, a fighter who no better than Canelo or Corrales

Duran lost to lesser fighters than guys Mayweathe beat

Hmmm, so I guess you are agreeing with the rest of my post since you didn't or couldn't respond. Cool.

Again, your comments are hiding the players involved and that must be analyzed thoroughly when you want to talk about legacy. That is why someone like Baldomir gets mentioned every time. Just to drive the point across but like I did in my previous email, the other names that you listed were not at their best when they fought Floyd or they were never that great to begin with.

Duran then came back and beat De Jesus in the trilogy. Many believe Floyd lost to someone like Castillo and had a hard time against the likes of Maidana even though Floyd had his A-side advantages .....

This is why all these years I brought up my points against Floyd. Floyd and his fans would always comment that he earned the right to cherry pick his opponents. So that is why I said please do not come back at the end and not expect people to bring up this point because people will.

Unlike some other boxers who were unfortunate to fight in an era where there were no big names in their prime to fight, Floyd had some opportunities but decided way back to take a "health comes first approach". Cool, no problem but it will affect his ratings.

This is a boxing forum...its all opinion...that's what the thread asks, our opinion

                You in your feelings bro...

I supported my opinion with facts
                1) who beat the most champs out of them? Lineal? Titlists?

                2) who defended their titles more?

                3) who has the better record in title fights? Defenses?

                4) who won more lineal titles and trinkets?

The answer is Floyd may weather n it took 60 less fights

IMO may weather as a boxer was better than Duran more versatile could adapt faster
                ....my eye test

Both are atg so why you mad lol

Sorry but I have yet to see how you can possibly come to that kind of conclusion. There is just no way.

Duran's resume was in an era where he fought them all and did not have the obvious Floyd A-side advantages that the Nevada resident Floyd usually received by default. In Floyd's resume I do not see prime SRL(3 fights), Hagler, Hearns, Benitez, .... for Floyd, only names of fighters that were not prime or had issues going into the fight or they were nowhere near the same category of names that were on Duran's resume.

                  Comment

                  • Without question Duran
Floyd is a ped cheat and his legacy is forever tarnished

sorry fellas...Mayweather was better in my opinion and there is nothing you guys can say that can change that

I gave legitimate reasons and stats why I feel that way and what I do I get in reply?? Nothing that has to do with the facts

Mayweather beat better overall competition... more world title fight wins and titles.......Duran lost most of his big fights....and skillwise Mayweather is better too

Mayweather is better....Duran is great AND an ATG.....Mayweather is better...Mayweather is almost 40 and still no one at 147 is favored over him....by age 32+ Duran was getting beat by no names.
