They sure don't..Tzsyu is the best fighter on either fighters resume at 140lb..Hatton wins..Hatton also had Tackie,and a few other solid wins on his resume..But the Tzsyu win kills anything you can bring up for Cotto in more then one way..

again your playing the name game... "the Tzsyu win kills anything" ...that just sounds ignorant... look at the records of the fighters they faced... looked at how many former champs they beat at 140... you didnt anything remotely intruiging to say so "Tzsyu kills all" is what you come up with... lame

Martinez isn't elite, either. he's another very good fighter who possesses a lesser body of work than Cotto but arguably (< operative word here) the better individual wins. he's been presiding over a historically weak 160lb division and isn't exactly cleaning it out.

martinez biggest win is paul williams...and kelly pavlik.... thats as good as his resume gets ...its not that good at all...

they are both 3 division world champs

trinidads biggest win is a fight that everyone saw him lose to de la hoya...

whats his other biggest win? vargas? lol... Joppy? lol...campas?... mayorga?

you can't assess purely by numbers/on paper, it's too deceptive. how many of Cotto's "world champions" were really anything more than paper titlists? Trinidad is clearly Greater, showed himself more capable at a higher level than Cotto and was clearly a better fighter. i favour his body of work, qualitatively. poll it and see how many disagree with that sentiment.

Cotto's best is Mosley. if you're trying to claim that a close one with a faded Mosley is better than a conclusive stoppage of a young hotshot Vargas who had shown himself precocious enough and not too green to get down with the like of Quartey and Wright, you're stretching it.

as for Trinidad-DLH, you can make a case for either principle in that fight. the verdict delivered that night has become one of the most overstated gift/robbery theories ever, in no small part perpetuated by the Legendary Nights series (like many other myths), and one that is generally not bought into by more discerning, long-time fight observers, who could/can see that the fight was generally very close and competitive and that De La Hoya only dazzled and looked a cut above in flashes.

anyway, when Cotto got in with fighters of the class of a 1999 De La Hoya, he got wrecked.

you are better off enjoying Cotto for what he is/was than wasting futile effort trying to prove he's something he's not. you'll get more pleasure out of him that way.

Hatton was the underdog and not many was picking him to beat Tyszu, Hatton beats him then suddenly Tyszu retires and is shot.

Miguel Cotto's 140 resume is probably no better than Hattons tbfh and Hatton certainly didn't go life and death with Paulie.

Say what you like but reality is a shot Tyszu is better than any fcuking thing Cotto did at 140.

fight was much more competitive than a snapshot of Paulie's face suggests. the official judges had it unduly wide for Cotto in the Garden (surprise, surprise), but it was there for either guy to win on any fair scorecard going into the late rounds.

Another point I find hilarious is..

"I'm tired of his fan saying Margarito cheated"...

Cotto avenged that loss and you all say "Margarito was shot!"

Fact is..for years has anyone hardly brought up the plaster of paris..and the ones who do bring it up seems to mainly be the Margarito supporters/Cotto haters..ooh the irony!
