He was never elite anyway, but he wasn't the same after Margarito gave him an almighty shellacking, then Pacquiao brutalised him and took what was left. If he carries on he's going to be another Mosley - someone the challengers beat up to get to the top.

He ran out of gas against Floyd too though. He shot his bolt in the 8th. Rather than deliver big in the championship rounds, he wilted completely and Floyd took over. The difference in energy levels is really obvious in the 9th, suddenly Cotto doesn't have the steam to corner Floyd against the ropes anymore. And once they were in open country it was a one-sided fight.
