I remember watching Hatton against Oliveria and Cotto was fighting some guy (Bailey I think) at the same time (I think). Going back to work the next day I told my work collegue that Hatton was gonna be the next big star of this division. He just laughed, dismissing Hatton as a nobody and arguing that Cotto was gonna sweep all before him. Classic.
I think Miguel Cotto has it all- Offense, Defense, Disipline and a good chin, but can he handle an animal like Hatton? Cotto's one of my most favorite fighters, but after watching the Torres fight where he was wobbled once or twice and the Corley fight when he got rocked, I'm a bit nervous. Who do y'all think will win, when they hopefully face off this year???
good chin...mmm im not sold.
i think he would last about 5rds.
cotta cant fight goin backwards, and hatton will force him back all night
Cotto may not have a great chin but he has shown an extrordinary ability to recover.
Evander Holyfield and Arturo Gatti are two fighters that come too mind, neither of them had great chins (often times they get mistaken for granite chinned fighters)but their ability to recover quickly and continue on the offensive was unique and Cotto may have this same type of ability.
Time is going to tell mother****ers-just be patient!

what? that makes absolutely no sense at all. totally false.
chico corrales is a fighter with a weak chin but good recovery ability.
holyfield and gatti have terrific chins. gatti would not have lasted against ward, ruelas, and rodriguez. holyfield took some great solid clean shots from tyson, foreman, bowe, lewis, and qawi and of those fighters, the only one to stop evander was bowe.
we would not have had great wars like holyfield/bowe 1 and gatti/ward 1 if gatti and holyfield didnt have great chins.

First off how dare you argue with someone with twice the ability as you...it is not wise.
Secondly what I said makes perfect...absolutely perfect sense.
Having a great chin means that you arent effected by punches or you dont get hurt...got it?
Gatti was hurt fight after fight after fight, it was his ability to survive and recover that pulled him thru and made him a warrior...not his chin (his heart).
Holyfield is the same way, he was repeatedly hurt against good and mediocre fighters yet he was absolutely brilliant at surviving and working his way right back into the fight.
Saint trust me having a great chin and being able to recover are different (ask Tyson)-James Toney has a great chin, Jorge Castro has a great chin, Jose Luis Castillo has a great chin...Gatti and Holyfield have something entirely different-I hope you can put what I say together.

Be good friend.
Gatti has a weak chin? Nope. I don't care if you have the biggest heart in the world. Science is science...when u get hit right and the brain is smashed off your cranium u go to sleep. I've heard a lot of things said about Gatti...but having a weak chin isn't one of them...until now...old fashioned nonsense.

"how dare you"? sorry, did i step on a nerve?
not getting affected by punches and not getting hurt in a boxing ring is nothing short of impossible.
gatti takes great shots, doesnt back down, and doesnt go down.
holyfield TOOK great shots, and came back with some of his own.
cotto was hurt by corrley (not exactly mr. dynamite hands) and was this close to being KOd by torres (a very green and at the time, unproven fighter).
now, cotto going up against hatton (one of the most aggressive punchers in over a decade) is simply suicide for cotto. unlike cotto, hatton can take it, shake it off, absorb it, and come right back with more. cotto cant do that. every time he gets tagged with a good shot, he staggers around and needs a few seconds to get his feet back (something holyfield and gatti dont have any trouble doing). cottos fight with torres was a war because torres was hungry and aggressive and cotto was determined and willing. never has holyfield or gatti been as wobbly as cotto was in the 3rd round with corrley or in the entire fight with torres.
comparing two tough warriors with a young boxer who just cant take it as well as dish it out, is flat out insane.
gatti and holyfield "not having the greatest chins". have you even seen them fight?
