that also explains why you say "they were easy to hurt". if you have never seen them fight, how do you know how many fighters hurt them?
on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best) i rate holyfields chin at about 9. i would rate gatti's at a 8 or maybe a 9. both guys are iron tough. if they were as easy to hurt as you say, theres no way they would have had so many great wars.
sure their chins werent on par with really tough fighters like marvin hagler, rocky marciano, or jake lamotta. but they are both tough.
Hey Evilsaint I got a tip for you, when someone references a fighter like Jorge Castro and then almost imediately after that claims they have never seen Holyfield or Gatti fight do you no what they are doing?
They are playing you as a fool.
Your smarter then that-I dont want to see you fall for the same bull**** ever again-I'll be watching.Comment

PR has his last hope in Cotto and that's what makes them think he will prevail against the greatest!, wonder why that fight is not around the corner?, how come Maussa went to England to try to unify while Cotto was wearing his "pantallas" and shaving his eyebrows?
If Cotto's managers think that he is not ready for the big 140 lbs fights and wants him to move on to 147 lbs, there is no way Cotto's name will be undefeated by the end of this year, there is no chances for him against Hatton (in 140lbs.), Mayweather, Judah or Margarito!, Sorry boris!...Comment

Gatti and Holy were both easy to hurt-do you realize how many fighters were able to hurt them? Therefore they do not have GREAT chins-why is that so hard to understand-they have good solid chins but certainly not great.
How many fighters have been able to hurt Jorge Castro or James Toney? Please answer this for me...those are great chins.
As for Corely's punching power...Cotto did a dangerous thing in that fight...he hunted Demarcus very early and was trying to take him out from the get go (trying to impress his dirty little homeboys)...what he did was give Chop Chop no choice but to (listen carefully) SIT DOWN ON HIS PUNCHES AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.
The punch that Corley seriously hurt Cotto with would have hurt almost all fighters...not saying that Cotto's chin is dynamite or even solid either.
As for watching Holyfield or Gatti fight....nah I havent really seen much of either guy but my cousin Richie says they are both pretty tight-trust me my cousin Richie would never steer me wrong, you...Im not so sure.
So no Ive never seen Evander or Gatti fight.Comment

Originally posted by bayaactually, from the names on this board - we have a couple mexicans, brothers and boris that think that cotto'll bring the pain to ricky. reality says something different, interesting ... what reality, did they fight already? theres absolutely no chance in cotto winning a fight w/ hatton, huh. fascinating stuff! the "greatest" ... if ricky hatton is ever referred to as the "greatest" anything, thats the day that boxing takes a step backwards. if you're likening maussa to cotto, theres a clear testament to your knowledge of boxing. yeah, because the hatton camp REALLY wants to fight cotto as soon as possible, right? let evil be rickys advocate, you come across as just a guy who has something against boricuas. cotto isn't the only guy man! we got a WHOLE slew of 'um coming out of the woodworks, you know we just keep on pumping those champions out!Comment

At the moment Cotto's camp are probably the ones keeping him away from Hatton as Cotto needs confidence after being rocked in the last fight, Cotto needs to step up in 06 though and a fiht with Hatton would be dynamite.Comment

Originally posted by bayawell its not reality, wrong word .. you could use phrases like its probable or has a better chance. see this is the thing, when hatton, w/ 35 fights was still fighting a slew of nobodies cotto w/ his 15 fights was taking on meaningful challenges, and now w/ a half-assed performance by kostya, cottos not on rickys level? oh how things have changed, i remember everyone on this board a year ago except for a few including eleviel and others were ricky advocates. now one false KD (it was a push) and a buzz or two and now ricky is galaxies ahead in terms of boxing than cotto, gimme a break dude. even i have come to respect the ability of hatton, this coming from someone who just thought that he was a brute in the ring w/ no defensive prowess and a complete lack in protecting himself. this fight for me is not an easy fight for cotto as i once thought, this fight is closer, way closer. they're both special fighters, but this nonsense of ricky would pummel cotto or another favorite, "ricky KO in less than 6" is laughable. great fight no doubt, cotto is in this fight the ENTIRE way, like the grubby little puerto rican he is.
That's why things have swung towards Hatton. He did better, in a far bigger challenge, than did Cotto.Comment

It wasn't a half arsed performance by Kosta Tszyu, he gave his all, but Ricky broke him.
As I posted earlier Hatton has probably a 60-40 advantage, it'll be close and it won't go to the cards.
Cotto needs to step up and meet the challenge to be taken seriously. Cotto vs Junior Witter would be a good fight to gauge Cotto's progress.Comment

I predict that Cotto will lose a fight bad this year, unless Arum keeps pairing him with turkeys like Balbi (and even then it might still happen).Comment
