Why can't Floyd just skip to the Canelo fight?

Not to mention that Sergio is considered a top P4P fighter., so there is a legacy component as well. It could also be avery marketable fight.
I would like Floyd to fight Sergio at 154 at some point in his career.

    I doubt it ever happens.

Alvarez has beaten NOBODY of any consequence yet. Mathew Hatton, Ryan Rhodes, Kermit Contron, shot Mosley, and little 140 Lopez, go directly to Mayweather, do no pass go? Those names are supposed to convince me that this is a fight worth seeing? F0ck no. We need to see him beat a decent opponent before he gets the p4p king. Guerrero might not win pretty, but he is proven against tough competition and it's clear he has shown he has a metal toughness and will to win a fight like this. Canello is popular because he's a novelty with some potential talent. He won't go near Lara or Trout because they are too threatening without being big draws. I realize he is 22, but he has not had a steady climb in competition at all.

I absolutely agree on all points. I even like Canelo as someone who is steadily improving. But, when it comes down to it, Guerrero is the correct fight. People ***** about matchmaking and how it's killing the sport, but here's a guy who earned the shot getting trashed simply because he doesn't have enough fan boys.

you guys all talk smack but have no real suggestions. bradley will never happen whether floyd wanted it or not. seems you guys wont be happy no matter what this man does untill he loses. what if he never loses what then was his whole career a fraud you could make that argument for any fighter.

Why not? Seems like a good idea to me.
              Floyd vs somebody
Canelo on the undercard vs somebody.
More exposure to the public through Mayweather's card of Canelo.
More build up to it as well.
Also, who other than Guerrero and Canelo should Floyd fight?
Only other person I can think of is Trout.
Guerrero is coming off that crushing blinding against Berto as well

Guerrero is not even close to a worse opponent than Ortiz. Not even close.

I can't understand why everyone suddenly thinks Alvarez is a good opponent for Mayweather. He's not.

Canelo isn't going to get bigger fighting an Austin Trout, for instance. And he's been featured on several other undercards already. A Cotto fight might help but that isn't happening any time soon. That leaves a Mayweather bout. It's really the only way Canelo can come up, popularity wise. And I want to see it go down sooner rather than later. There's a good chance Floyd looks like an aged fighter in the ring and Canelo has a great chance of becoming the sport's next big star. I'm hoping he's the guy in the ring across from Floyd when Father Time begins to work his magic.

I can't understand it. It's crazy how this time last year the fight would have been considered an almighty joke but now it's the fight that has to happen

It will happen in September anyway so we'll see if tunes change.

Floyd calls the shots. He can fight anyone he wants to if he makes them a good offer because they would make so much money and if they beat him they would keep on making big money. I don't think Floyd wants to fight Canelo. Floyd fights guys he is sure he can beat. I don't think he is sure he can beat Canelo. If he ever signs to fight Canelo I will take this all back.
