Do you think a prime Margarito would have really beaten Floyd?

I can't fault Floyd for Cotto, when we review everything else that happened before and since. Floyd had wanted to fight Cotto when both were TR, and after Floyd mopped up Gatti, Cotto and TR didn't seem keen on making that fight. Arum even said he couldn't get Floyd the right money for Margarito, Oscar, and Cotto, even though he got it away to fight other top fighters. Cotto leaves TR and the fight is made, coincidence.....I don't think so.

Yea Arum and Cotto didn't want any of Floyd at 140.

but it would have been nice if Floyd's name was in the mix with the fighter's I bolded instead of taking a 2 year vacation

Arum said he didn't want to give Floyd that kind of money, so Floyd instead fought Baldomir (some MANY were claiming Floyd was ducking as well at the time), De La Hoya (the fight everyone wanted), and Hatton (another person people thought Floyd would duck) for the exact same amount of money. I think it has more to do with Arum and Floyd not being able to do business together than anything.

But Floyd may not have been focusing on Margarito, because he was trying to fight Mosley and Oscar at the time.

If you think that Margarito couldn't defeat anyone with decent speed then he should have lost to Sergio Martinez who had a lot of speed/movement but Margarito caught up to him.

And it had little to do with money. There was an interview out there that Floyd said, something like "That is why I didn't fight Margarito, I knew there was something wrong about him"

At that point nah, even though Mayweather was a small WW at that time he would have pot-shot and move around a lot to avoid getting in exchanges, Margarito throws a lot but he was too open and wide to be able to do damage against anyone that gets on their toes, if Rito knows how to cut off the ring then I would have giving him a better chance.

Martinez was a novice when he fought Rito, no amateur background, jump into boxing in his mid twenties etc, he doesn't even know how to clinch, so Martinez does not bring any experience to the table apart from running.

Who knows? The fight conveniently didn't take place, same with Pacquiao.

Exactly! The welterweight division had not been that stacked in 25 years!

This is why Floyd doesn't get the respect he deserves.

..... but these guys are saying that if you get a guy with good movement, Margarito would be too slow and would lose ..... in that fight, Sergio was like running in a track meet .... lol!

Yes it would have been Castillo Floyd again but with more intensity and if Margarito would have had his cast wraps Floyd would have been a ruined fighter like Cotto
